October 12, 201411 yr Hi, I need to upgrade my hard drives this week. Would you go for WD or HSGT 4TB or? I will be ordering by Wednesday. Does anyone know of any good deals?

October 12, 201411 yr ... obviously the source I listed in that post isn't useful in the UK. But as I noted, either the WD Reds or the HGST Coolspins are good choices. The HGST NAS units are fine as well, but they run at 7200rpm so will run a bit warmer than their Coolspin cousins.
October 12, 201411 yr I'd suggest the HGST 4T (any model) or the Seagate 4T (ST4000DM000). Nothing against the REDS, except the 3T got beat up in the recent BackBlaze study. People here tend to report good luck with the REDS. The Seagate seem to be considerably better priced on Amazon UK. SEE HERE
October 13, 201411 yr 6TB WD Red for £204.99: http://www.dabs.com/products/wd-6tb-red-sata-6gb-s-64mb-3-5--hard-drive-9MMM.html?q=6tb%20red&src=16&awc=3044_1413210008_9e8317f8d09a325e9364b0f1c4af4840&referrerid=AW&utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_content=AW00
October 24, 201411 yr Author I bought two 4TB for £238 so I have enough room for now. I'll buy some more when the price drops
