February 3, 201511 yr All machines on my network can access the media storage with no issues. I have a laptop (my primary) on my network, that causes an issue when accessing webgui from it. All other computers on the network can access the WebGui with no issue, until I attempt to access from the specific laptop. Once this specific computer accesses the main page on the WebGui all the other computers on the network can still access the shared storage; but none of them can access the WebGui page again until a telnet session is used to bring down the array and restart the machine. I have tried disabling the anti-virus (BitDefender 2015) on this specific laptop, but the issue remains. I am open to any suggestions. My next step is to identify network related processes and shut them down one at a time until I find the culprit. Any other ideas, and suggestions are welcome. I have attached a list of running processes on the laptop causing the issue. Thanks for your input. processlist.txt
February 3, 201511 yr I have no idea, but wondering if you are using a different browser on the other machines vs the laptop. And if so, could you try to access the Webgui from the laptop through a different browser?

And if so, could you try to access the Webgui from the laptop through a different browser? Thanks for suggesting. I meant to include that in my original post. I did try accessing through both Chrome and IE.
February 3, 201511 yr What happens if you physically disconnect the laptop (or shut it down)? Plus, you might post details on the laptop including the operating system.

Even if I physically disconnect or shutdown the server, other computers on the network still have issues accessing the WebGui. Server still has to be manually shutdown and rebooted. It happens whether I am hard wired with an Ethernet cable or attempting to connect wireless. The details for the offending laptop are: OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit Processor: Intel® Core i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.4GHz Memory: 12.0 GB System Type: 64 bit Operating System, x64 based processor Network Adaptors: Qualcomm Atheros AR8171/8175 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30) Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adaptor
February 3, 201511 yr I'm on a fresh install of unraid and I'm seeing the same thing. I can ssh to it and dig around but I get no webgui. Super frustrating
February 3, 201511 yr How long do you let the laptop sit trying to load the webui before saying its crashed. Not quite the same as what you're experiencing, but every once in a while, from my desktop Chrome takes FOREVER to load the UI but after it finally does everything is back to normal. (But, when its happening, IE does load the pages fine) When this happens, I notice in my syslog errors along the line of "Client Closed Connection"

February 3, 201511 yr I tried an experiment using two computers running Win7 and found that I could establish two simultaneous links to the same server running 5.0.6. (I thought, perhaps, the GUI only permitted one connection at a time.) I do know that there have been issues with Win8 and unRAID. But as I recall most of these have revolved around issues with establishing connections to the stored media on the server. Win8 is still in beta (but close to release) and probably still has some unresolved issues in it. You might want to change your topic name to something like 'Webgui hangs when accessing from specific Window 8 laptop'. That might draw in some people who are also running Win 8 and see if they have a any problem. (I know that I only access my servers from one computer and would never even realize that there could be an issue until you posted about it!)

I have egg on my face!!! My mind (and memory) were on some sort of a trip yesterday afternoon. My thirteen-year-old grand daughter has a Lenovo Win 8 tablet and laptop combination and I am the tech support person for it. Whenever I have to fix/work on it, I feel like the OS is still in beta for more reasons then I care to list here. Plus, that would be completely out-of-topic...
