6b14b GUI does not show faulty drive

Featured Replies

The backup server is running 3 days now, doing rsync backup.

Last night it was about time to write to disk5 which is an elderly WD2001FASSS (2TB) drive.

I remember having had trouble with that drive but the recent preclear passed fine and I

decided to use the drive in the backup rig.

This morning I checked the progress before leaving and found lots of writes on the drive (according to the GUI)

but the drive itself is shown empty.

Triggered the spin-up for all disks and, although the disk shows green it doesn't report SMART values.

I logged into console and found "disk5 I/O error".

Checked cabling and all is seated properly.

The disk may have passed out - I don't care, but the issue is that the GUI is not reporting it.

I'll grab a syslog and some screenshots when I'm home again.

If you need more Info, tell me now, as I will then shut down the server and remove the drive.

Thank you for reporting. I will forward to Tom for review and fix. May need a syslog from you.

Sorry for the late reply, here is the syslog.

I had to cut some of the errors because it was too big to post.

Meanwhile I restarted the server and the mentioned 2TB drive has reported back.

I will keep an eye on that drive and see if it fails again.
