April 8, 201511 yr Hello, Suddenly I can't seem to connect to my server. This has happened in the past but a restart has rectified the issue. In this case, when I type "Ifconfig" at the cmd prompt I get a return that shows a generic inet add (like 27.0.0.1)(or something like that) When I enter "Ifconfig eth0" it gives a return showing my static IP. I have reseated the network cable. Rebooted both the router and network switch. Not sure what else to do. I have included the syslog. Thx syslog-20150408-114422.zip
April 8, 201511 yr Author Looks like your unRAID IP is 192.168.1.100 What it the IP of your PC? My PC IP is different. I operate on a mixture of DCHP and static. As an added note, the unraid server makes a beep when it shuts down (something it doesn't usually do). Not sure what this means. Since this post I found another network card and installed it. While I never got a connection via that device, when I started the server again, "IFCONFIG" showed as it should. I plugged the network cable back into the MoBo port and got a connection - but only 100mbps - while I should be getting 1000. Very strange.

I think what trurl was asking was whether you PC is on the same subnet as your server. eg: is your PC's IP address 192.168.1.5? or is it 192.168.2.5?

I have turned it off and back on and now there is no connection again. Really annoying!
April 8, 201511 yr You installed a gbit card on the unraid server and you are only getting 100M? is the switch you are connected to (i am assuming) a gigabit switch? What is you network segment 192.168.1.0/24? where does your dhcp pool start? Is the unraid static or dhcp?

What is you network segment 192.168.1.0/24? where does your dhcp pool start? Is the unraid static or dhcp? I think the network port only gave 100m because I unplugged it and put it back in while it was going. Yes, network switch is gigabit - in fact the whole system is. DHCP pool is 64-253 (all the same subnet). Unraid is a static IP. A reboot (vs a powerdown and restart) got me connected again last night. I have gigabit connection again. I have yet to start it again this morning to see what it's doing. Several things I notice. During the powerdown sequence the server emits single beep. This isn't usual. I can only assume this is an unraid thing because the manual for my Mobo only lists beeps at start. The other thing, I realise now that on a normal start-up using "IFCONFIG" returns both an "eth0" and a "lo" listing when connected. When I use "IFCONFIG" and it hasn't connected I only get a "lo" listing. Not sure what this means. Is there any way to assign an IP once unraid has started? I figured later that perhaps the network card I found isn't compatiable with unraid (drivers??). Can someone suggest a NIC that works with unraid if I need to go down this path. Thx
