April 25, 201511 yr recently i have been having issues with a drive in my array... but i have been trying to get by with it... but recently 90% of the files on the share have gone for a walk... when i dial down on each drive the files can be located but just not on the share... currently it's rebuilding the drive that had failed after a reboot... I will replace it later... but i would like to know as to why the files are missing from the share... in a different thread i read that it after waiting for a bit the share will come back up after a reboot... and quick suggestions or have you heard of this before?? Thanks Matt
April 26, 201511 yr Author I have replaced the HD with a new one currently rebuilding... but has anyone heard of missing files in the share but when browsing the HD directly the files are there... like missing Samba files... and it's only in the one dir...
April 26, 201511 yr You may want to look at global share settings and see if a drive is excluded. I can't remember if a when a drive is globally excluded if its contents will show up in a share
April 26, 201511 yr Author yea i checked the drives and to see if the are excluded or not... they arent... 5 data disk... and the folder is in all of them... it's my media folder... Replacement disk finished and is loaded into the server... rebuild completed... I will try and reboot the server once this other disk i have completes preclear... thanks matt
April 26, 201511 yr Author might have bigger issues here then i thought... might be a resault of the bad disk that i had and running it for a bit... i navigated down into the share and i got the following error... reiserfs error (device md2): vs-5150 search_by_key: invalid format found in block
April 26, 201511 yr Author logs and sda(disk 2) is new... Just added and rebuilt the array within the past 24h... mat Logs.txt
April 26, 201511 yr The User Shares are built after the drives are mounted. From my experience, however, it does not always seem to wait long enough for mount completion, so if a drive has issues (like yours), then it may take much longer to mount, and unfortunately FUSE (the builder and maintainer of the User Shares) may not have waited long enough. So files on that drive will not be included in the Shares. You can Stop the array, then Start it again, and see if this time they are included. Generally, you have to fix the drive, so that it will mount as fast as the others, in time for the User Share scan.
