Upgrading server

I think I already know the answers to these questions, but I need someone to calm my nerves before I take the plunge.

I am running 5.0-rc5 on an Athlon II X2 250u (1.6Ghz 25w dual core).  The system has served me very well for years, but I want to upgrade to something a little more modern and expandable.

I am looking at a MicroATX 1150 MB and a G3220 that I got from a member here a while ago.

Plan is to do a parity check, back up all of my critical data (its backed up already), upgrade to the latest 5.0 release, do another parity check, powerdown the system, swap MB and CPU, and power it back up.  An Intel gig NIC and an LSI 8-port SATA card will stay.  Everything else will remain the same, drives, power supply, etc.

I know linux is a lot more hardware friendly than, say, Windows (which would completely lose its mind at a mb/cpu swap).

I just want to make sure that I'm doing things correctly, by the numbers.

The new system should come right up and unraid should boot and initialize, correct?  Am I missing anything?

Thanks.

Not that I can think of. You're taking more precautions than most, which is always a good thing (better to be safe than sorry).  Maybe wait for a few others to chime in but I think your plan of attack here is solid.

Sounds OK to me. I have done a CPU/mobo swap since my initial build and had no problems.

Agree =>  the system should simply boot up as usual ... except it will run a lot nicer  :)
