Windows 10 nag icon

What I would like is a way to sign up for Windows 10 SP1.  Still for free of course.  Has Microsoft ever gotten a first release right?  Of anything?

Agree.  The good news is that you can probably just wait for SP1.  The update is free for current users of Windows 7 or 8 until one year after the release date [i.e. until 29 July 2016].

Also note that rather than create a separate KB for the "nag", Microsoft embedded this in an update to the Windows Update component, which is REQUIRED for future updates ... so there's no real choice about getting the nag.  You can, however, easily hide it by simply customizing the notifications settings and setting "GWX" to "Hide icon and notifications".
