August 10, 200916 yr Since there is no specific 4.5 sub-folder, I guess we just ask all questions in the Beta Threads?
August 10, 200916 yr I can't speak for others, but I would *much* prefer to see support-related issues in their own dedicated thread, in either the latest unRAID support forum available, currently the unRAID Server 4.4 forum, or in the Software or Hardware forums, as appropriate. I would like to see the unRAID Server 4.4 forum be considered the unRAID Server 4.* forum. I personally find it confusing trying to deal with multiple people within the same thread. I'm very forgetful, and once I've left an issue, find it hard to go back and pick up all of the strings again, especially when there are multiple user's issues mixed together. It makes it easier to make mistakes, which makes me feel I have to be even more thorough, and triple-check everything I *think* I remember about a problem, which makes it harder to even go back and try at all. But again, I can't speak for others. I think Tom simply forgot to add unRAID Server 4.5, but for the most part, unRAID Server 4.4 is not that different from unRAID Server 4.5. It's more like when Microsoft came out with Windows ME after Win98SE, could have instead been called Win98TE (Third Edition).
August 10, 200916 yr I too agree but when i suggested it last time it was not accepted. The current free for all is the preferred method. The one pile file approach is lacking IMHO but does make it easier for Limetech to keep up with beta problems whilst not following the entire forum.

I think for a beta which does not span that long it's fine to announce a problem, An issue I see is the beta period spans a long time, so support an issue is announced, then further questions and support is added. Down the line tracking it all becomes an issue. I'm leaning towards separation as suggested. 12 pages to a beta announcement post with many different directions becomes tedious.
August 10, 200916 yr Especially if you are coming late to the party and want to review comments prior to install. TBH Bugtrac or Trac would probably help alot here to. We the daily posters know most of the established quirks and bugs but its all a bit too haphazard to be of any use to users who only want to hit and run for info. In essence the unRAID online community and user base has out grown the "one dev on the forum every now and again, one file pile, informal bug tracking approach". Yes it still works as info is there if you look hard enough but it could be so much better.
September 14, 200916 yr Why not a new forum just called "Betas" (or whatever)? I wouldn't even care if the forum still had leftover threads from previous betas (though preferably they'd autolock after some time period).
March 2, 201016 yr Sounds like a good idea, or perhaps maybe have a thread categorized as 3.x Betas, 4.x Betas, etc..., then within a particular Beta version, sub-categorize them in to 4.1 Beta, 4.2 Beta, etc... Just a thounght. Cheers!
March 13, 201016 yr Author I guess this never happened? I had to post a 4.5.x question in the 4.4 folder...unacceptable!
March 13, 201016 yr I guess this never happened? I had to post a 4.5.x question in the 4.4 folder...unacceptable! It’s a little annoying but it is not the end of the world. Tom has been backed up with all the orders and the release of 4.5.3 since he had to move to supporting the PCIex4 Supermicro card.
