September 28, 201510 yr Hello, My CPU does not support Virtuilization, is there any other way i could still run VM's ? I read that only KVM needs a CPU which should support virtulization? Thanks
September 28, 201510 yr Which CPU are you running? There are two types of virtualization that can happen. One is straight forward, called vt-x for intel. This allows passthrough of the CPU and will run basic VM's. The other involves Device passthrough, called vt-d for intel.
September 28, 201510 yr I am using Intel® Pentium® CPU G3240 @ 3.10GHz It has VT-X, which means you CAN run virtual machines, but not VT-D, which means you can't passthrough a VGA to a VM, for example.
September 28, 201510 yr Author Can you pls tell me how i can add VM's now? Using the VM manager built into unraid 6?
September 28, 201510 yr As noted, your CPU supports vt-x => but you need to check your BIOS to be sure it's enabled. Many BIOS setup utilities default to disabled for this feature. Once it's enabled, you can follow any of the various setup guides for VM's on the forum.
