Bugman1400 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Is there a table that shows server size and the number and size of drives required to equal that server size. I understand, for example, that for a 8TB server size, there are several different combinations of drive sizes vs drive number but, I figured there would be some sort of matrix.

trurl Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 It's really simple. Parity must be as large as any single data drive. Any size data drive can be used as long as it is not bigger than the parity drive. The total capacity is just the total of all the data drives.
c3 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 To estimate the yield of your drives, add them all up and subtract the largest. If you want to plan a build (ie. all drives same size), see the attached worksheet. It is more geared towards the topic, How many to get X size? Cost-per-TB.zip
