Change raid card in an already existing server

Recommended Posts

hi everybody,

I searched the forum for this question, but i couldn´t find anything.

I am new to unRAID but absolutely fascinated. My Server is now up and running.

Now I have no more free sata connectos on my board or on my sata card.

Is it possible to change the card, connect all drives an get the server up and running again?

Or do I need to set it up completely again?

Sorry for any wrong words, I´m from Germany, so not a native speaker.

I would love to use a cache drive, which was no option in the beginning.

Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

As Chris said, it should be smooth. Unraid 'remembers' the drive numbers using the disk id's. So you can replace your entire system hardware and still have your base unraid setup uninterrupted if you hold onto all your hard drives and the unraid usb drive.
