February 20, 201610 yr Guys I need some help please. I have version 5.0.6 Pro. I had my unraid running without issues for at least 2 years. Then as one of my drives started to get full I upgraded my array, but the drives still kept getting lower in free space, and I started having connectivity issues, my mapped drives would disconnect (not sure if this is related) Will I just checked the array and it is showing 0 free space for one of my drives! Why is it doing this when I have about 7TB of free space on other drives?! I have tried to mess with the allocation method and minimum one I started having problems but I'm not sure why this is happening? I am getting multiple errors in sickbeard saying it can't write to the share, etc... I have "200000000" listed as minimum free space for each share under the Shares tab and I am using "high-water" allocation for my shares. Can someone please help me out?
February 20, 201610 yr Possibilities: - Incorrect Split Levels Set up for shares - New Drive excluded (or not included) in the shares (or globally)
February 20, 201610 yr Author All the disks are included. Even if the split level was set up incorrectly isn't that just a way to have unraid to TRY to keep everything on the same disk? Surely once the minimum free space requirements are reached it would go to another disk, no? I have split level as 2 for TV shows. NAME of Show\season\filename.avi Movies are 1, some home videos are 0, etc... *EDIT* I just read the documentation again and it says High-water allocation is supposed to fill up the free drive until the minimum space is reached, and then go on to the next disk with least space on it, etc..

Surely once the minimum free space requirements are reached it would go to another disk, no? unfortunately no. Split level overrides the Allocation method. You will have to manually use files between drives so that there is enough space to allow files to go onto the disk selected by the split level, or change the split level.
February 21, 201610 yr Author Wow, really? So eventually everyone is going to run into this problem because a single hard drive is bound to be filled at some point? So what should I do at this point? I want to make sure I never have this issue again? Should I just change the split level to 0, and deal with the fact that files will be scattered on different drives?

Read the documentation again. That is not what high-water does. In any case, as already said, split-level takes precedence over allocation method. It is trying to put your TV shows together like you told it. Just move some stuff off that drive to make room for them.
