Creating bootable USB on linux

Having trouble with writing the image down on the usb. Been using linux distros for over half a decade, but unraid has obviously taken some special approach for it.

Tried copying contents directly on usb, and using both dd and unetbootin for writing the image down, but nothing.

 

So, what's the trick here, and why on earth does unraid provide instructions for OSX, but not linux?

Not quite sure what image you are talking about?

 

After the USB has been formatted to FAT32; labelled "UNRAID"; and all the files from the ZIP copied to it then it is a case of running the 'syslinux' command to make the USB bootable.

Tried that as well (with 'syslinux -f -i /dev/unraid_partition'), but nothing, still not bootable.

 

 

 

Tried using unetbootin. No luck.
