TimeMachine troubles

Featured Replies

I've had this issue multiple times.

I create a Time Machine share. my initial backup works just fine.

a few days later I can no longer connect to the share. I try to connect to the AFP share through finder and I get error. I try connecting to the Time Machine disk using Time Machine but I get an error stating TM can't access the backup disk.

I'm running unraid 6.1.9.

I have my TimeMachine share set to cache disk only, I've tried setting the security to private and secure without any improvement of my issue. I have my personal user profile read/write access and I use my user to try to connect to the share.

Anyone else having these issues with TM?

Timemachine is running well since unRAID 6.x

You didn't mentioned your exact export settings. I have SMB and NFS defined as NO and AFP Export=Yes(TimeMachine). Another important element (..at least it was mentioned as important a while ago) is to dedicate Time Machine to a single disk drive, so I don't know if it is ideal to use the cache drive.

Nothing but trouble with %$#^%$^% timemachine on my unraid server (5.0.6). It worked for some time, but after 'upgrading' to mountain lion, i never got it working again. Every time i started it, it gave me new and exciting errors. Disk not found. Error 52. Error 75. Error 666. Disk in use. Can not access disk. Lollypop not found. Moon too bright. Pizza too small. 42. Whatever. I'm now testing Carbon Copy Cloner. At least that one will actually see a folder on the unraid NAS and is at this moment, copying stuff to it. Amazing.

Not unraid related, but while Carbon Copy Cloner is good, SuperDuper is excellent for making a bootable local backup.  Mine runs every night and writes and then unmounts "Backintosh" so that if a local boot drive fails you have your work as of last night at 10 PM.

Not a replacement for time machine, but a real arse saver.

I've tried SuperDuper first, but it could not mount its backup on my unraid disk... no matter what i tried. Fed up with fiddling around, i tried CCC and it worked instantly. So for me, CCC it is.
