Solved: Having trouble adding drive to array - +ed drive now all shares are gone (SOLVED)

Featured Replies

I stopped the array.

Selected the new drive to be disk 3. (All the drives are the same WD 3TB)

Disk 3 comes up as a new device (blue square), but then I can't start the array anymore.

I think I'm missing a step.

You should have a checkbox "yes, I'm sure" or something similar next to the start button, after checking it array will start and the new disk will be cleared.

As Squid said.

Your screenshot is clipped just perfectly to prevent us from seeing the relevant portion. ;D

As Squid said.

Cool...  I guess I can now start taking credit for johnny.blacks insights!

When I click start button, the page refreshes back to array stopped.

I don't know if there should be a checkbox. Since the Start button is already enabled I would guess not.

Post a diagnostic.

I remember there was an issue with one of the beta's not showing the checkbox.  it happened to me and I had to roll back to add a new disk.

It's a b21 bug, update to latest rc.

I believe there's no checkbox in this situation but you'll be able to start the array.

added drive now all shares are gone?

Does this mean all the data is gone now too?

or is there a way to restore the shares?

Extremely unlikely data is gone. Exactly how did you add a drive? And post a diagnostic.

Will boot the system back up to get diagnostic.

All I did to add the drive was, went to main tab,

Array Devices, disk 3 changed from unassigned to the drive I wanted to add.

Selected Start array (bring array online and start clearing new data disk)

Every was working fine after that. (yesterday)

Once the 3rd disk was cleared all the Shares were gone. (today after work)

I guess after the new 3rd drive was done being cleared, all it needed was a reboot and all the shares are visible again :)

Looks like it was a simple case of sh#t up and reboot.  ;D

Thanks.
