November 12, 20169 yr Can you use wireless ac on unraid servers? If yes then which one is compatible? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
November 12, 20169 yr I have a TP-Link RE580D AC1900 which has worked very well for me, and would recommend it as it can work as a WiFi extender as well. I tried an archer c8 before and a WD bridge and had problems with dropped connections
November 12, 20169 yr I would try all forms of wired options for a server before going wireless - ethernet, powerline, MOCA.
November 12, 20169 yr I would try all forms of wired options for a server before going wireless - ethernet, powerline, MOCA. I agree, except for powerline. On my PC before unRAID I had a NETGEAR PL1200-100UKS which I replaced with a NETGEAR A6210, which performed much better. My TP-link performs even better, transferring at nearly 200Mbps to my router which is one floor down. The latest powerline tech wouldn't be able to match that: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/network-wifi/20-best-powerline-adapters-2016-2017-uk-3490638/
November 12, 20169 yr I have always had to use powerline to connect my Unraid server. (Mrs CHBMB just won't allow me to run ethernet) Always worked well for me. I'm using these: TP-Link AV1200 Gigabit Passthrough Powerline
November 12, 20169 yr Author No. I meant one that I can put inside the server. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
November 12, 20169 yr you can't - you have to connect via ethernet connection so you'll need a wireless bridge like my tp-link, or an archer c8 in bridging mode if you want to use wi-fi
November 12, 20169 yr Author Is that because the unraid software does not have drivers for wireless ac USB/pci devices? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
November 13, 20169 yr I agree, except for powerline. Powerline works great if your house wiring is anywhere near properly done. I relied on powerline for years until I eventually got round to pulling ethernet. Only issues I had was the speed, my AV500 plugs tended to do about 200Mb.
