December 31, 20169 yr Both your syslog and lspci output show no installation or recognition of your NIC card. Try to reseat it or use a different PCI slot. yes i have just noticed this myself, when i booted the system up i changed the pci slot then realised after i had generated the file that it was not discovered i am re attaching another set of diagnostics where the card is detected i also have logs generated from november when i was playing about and everything was working.. do they help ? It looks like your two ethernet ports have reversed their assignment, i.e. eth0 became eth1 and vice versa. You can go to Settings -> Network Settings -> Interface Rules and reverse the assignments of eth0 and eth1. You need to reboot afterwards and move cable to the other port. If this solution doesn't work, you need to delete the file network-rules.cfg in the folder config on your flash device and reboot your system.

I have tried both of these options. still getting 169..... ip
December 31, 20169 yr The strange thing is that network settings tell you have a fixed IP address assigned for eth0, while the syslog shows it tries DHCP to get an IP address for eth0. What happens when you delete both network.cfg and network-rules.cfg and reboot your server (please post diagnostics)?

December 31, 20169 yr Author also, i am adding this each time i perform these tests and reboot i am testing with 2 different routers providing 2 different networks on different ip ranges both are working, except neither will give an ip to this server
December 31, 20169 yr It shows you have both ports eth0 and eth1 connected, but not getting an IP address (no response to DHCP request). Back to basics... (leave config as is) Disconnect one port by removing the cable, reboot your system and see what happens. If unsuccessful then reconnect the port from step 1 and remove the 'other' cable, then repeat the test.
