Xyler94
I'm having issues installing a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM on my unRAID machine. here's a snapshot of the configs I got right now: https://gyazo.com/a86a52a843a57f6bbe4cae1951ce3e37 Here's the XML of the VM if it also helps... <domain type='kvm'> <name>JacksonServer</name> <uuid>17d88e95-67a8-a64b-fc8c-761629b1fbb3</uuid> <description>Primary Games server</description> <metadata> <vmtemplate xmlns="unraid" name="Windows Server 2008" icon="windows7.png" os="windows2008"/> </metadata> <memory unit='KiB'>10485760</memory> <currentMemory unit='KiB'>10485760</currentMemory> <memoryBacking> <nosharepages/> </memoryBacking> <vcpu placement='static'>4</vcpu> <cputune> <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='0'/> <vcpupin vcpu='1' cpuset='1'/> <vcpupin vcpu='2' cpuset='2'/> <vcpupin vcpu='3' cpuset='3'/> </cputune> <os> <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-i440fx-2.5'>hvm</type> <loader readonly='yes' type='pflash'>/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x64/OVMF_CODE-pure-efi.fd</loader> <nvram>/etc/libvirt/qemu/nvram/17d88e95-67a8-a64b-fc8c-761629b1fbb3_VARS-pure-efi.fd</nvram> </os> <features> <acpi/> <apic/> <hyperv> <relaxed state='on'/> <vapic state='on'/> <spinlocks state='on' retries='8191'/> <vendor id='none'/> </hyperv> </features> <cpu mode='host-passthrough'> <topology sockets='1' cores='2' threads='2'/> </cpu> <clock offset='localtime'> <timer name='hypervclock' present='yes'/> <timer name='hpet' present='no'/> </clock> <on_poweroff>destroy</on_poweroff> <on_reboot>restart</on_reboot> <on_crash>restart</on_crash> <devices> <emulator>/usr/local/sbin/qemu</emulator> <disk type='file' device='disk'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw' cache='writeback'/> <source file='/mnt/cache/SSDVM/JacksonServer/vdisk1.img'/> <target dev='hdc' bus='sata'/> <boot order='1'/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='2'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/mnt/user/ISOs/7601.17514.101119-1850_x64fre_server_eval_en-us-GRMSXEVAL_EN_DVD.iso'/> <target dev='hda' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <boot order='2'/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/mnt/user/ISOs/virtio-win-0.1.118-2.iso'/> <target dev='hdb' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='1'/> </disk> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-ehci1'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x7'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci1'> <master startport='0'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x0' multifunction='on'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci2'> <master startport='2'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci3'> <master startport='4'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x2'/> </controller> <controller type='pci' index='0' model='pci-root'/> <controller type='ide' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x01' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='sata' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x0'/> </controller> <controller type='virtio-serial' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x05' function='0x0'/> </controller> <interface type='bridge'> <mac address='52:54:00:68:90:4c'/> <source bridge='br0'/> <model type='virtio'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x03' function='0x0'/> </interface> <serial type='pty'> <target port='0'/> </serial> <console type='pty'> <target type='serial' port='0'/> </console> <channel type='unix'> <source mode='connect'/> <target type='virtio' name='org.qemu.guest_agent.0'/> <address type='virtio-serial' controller='0' bus='0' port='1'/> </channel> <input type='tablet' bus='usb'/> <input type='mouse' bus='ps2'/> <input type='keyboard' bus='ps2'/> <graphics type='vnc' port='-1' autoport='yes' websocket='-1' listen='0.0.0.0' keymap='en-us'> <listen type='address' address='0.0.0.0'/> </graphics> <video> <model type='qxl' ram='65536' vram='65536' vgamem='16384' heads='1'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02' function='0x0'/> </video> <memballoon model='virtio'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x06' function='0x0'/> </memballoon> </devices> </domain> My specs are: Intel Xeon E3-1245 V5 CPU 16GB ECC RAM Would like any help as to why, the VM launches, and everything seems okay, but the installation doesn't get to the part where I can install the Server. It used to work, but I needed to delete it for glitching reasons. Linux works, and Server 2016 works (I have an ISO but no key), but I only have a key for Server 2008 R2... Quote Link to comment
ashman70
Can you give some more details as to where it craps out? Does it boot and start installing files what happens when it fails? Blue screen or does it just reboot? How much disk space and RAM are you dedicating to the VM? Are you installing this onto a dedicated disk or where? Quote Link to comment
Xyler94
It's... freezing on the "Starting Windows" (( https://gyazo.com/fab91ee9020f286370d43ee61e935398 )) screen, tried changing the template from Server 2008 to Server 2016, and now the Windows logo is showing up. Giving it 150GB of SSD Cache 10GB of RAM Installing this on SSD Cache like previously mentioned. (( I have 2 cache drives, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSDs )) Quote Link to comment
ashman70
Try the Windows 7 template its more similar to 2008R2 then 2016 is. 1 Quote Link to comment
