So after a 49hr parity sync/check I am back in business with no errors or issues. Looks like that SAS2LP card was the problem in terms of some incompatibility with the backplane of my server. Glad I was able to find an H310 local, quick and cheap. I also put it in a different PCIe slot than the SAS2LP card was in, still an 8x slot just not the same one, doubt it made any difference.

 

I'm guessing the fact I did a parity sync/check rather than just a parity check is the reason it took 49hrs? Usually a check takes 37hrs.

Then reason for the low parity check speed is mostly the CPU but changing the tunables below from the default to these values should improve it a little.

 

Settings -> Disk Settings:

 

md_num_stripes="4096"

md_sync_window="2048"

md_sync_thresh="2000"

 

A little improvement in your case can result in a few hours difference.
