Tee STDERR on local console to a file

Wondering if you could by default tee the output of stderr on the local console to a file in /var/log

Not quite sure if its possible to do this (and it would have to be done early in the boot process), but it would make things a lot simpler to diagnose in the case of random reboots, hangs, etc where no monitor is connected (or a monitor is connected but the system reboots on you before you can take a picture)  FCP could then tail the stderr file to a file on the flash drive
