Cant flash my H310

Featured Replies

Hello

I bought two H310 and wanted to flash one by one using this tutorial: https://techmattr.wordpress.com/2016/04/11/updated-sas-hba-crossflashing-or-flashing-to-it-mode-dell-perc-h200-and-h310/

I managed to get the SAS address, but shortly after got the "Failed to initialize PAL. Exiting program." Error. I then tried to get it done via the efi shell but then I get this error: "No LSI SAS adapters found!"

Things I've done:

megacli.exe -AdpAllInfo -aAll -page 20 -> got my SAS address

megarec.exe -writesbr 0 sbrempty.bin -> got the needed error

megarec.exe -cleanflash 0 -> rebooted after

sas2flsh.exe -o -f 6GBPSAS.fw -> PAL error

sas2flash.efi -o -f 6GBPSAS.FW -> NO LSI SAS...

What should I try now?

Gosh it is hard to cross quote in this new forum....

EASIEST flash process ever on this Ebay Dell PERC H310!  THANK YOU @Fireball3

Followed the READMEFIRST... and after unziping the contents into the bootable usb (per rufus)...

Everything was self guided!  (Though some steps take a LONG time)

  • 1.bat  (used camera to take a picture of sas address)
  • 2.bat
  • 3.bat
  • 5ITDELL.bat
  • 5ITP7.bat
  • 5ITP20.bat
  • 6.bat (auto pulled sas address perfectly matches what was shown in 1.bat)

Now I have an LSI SAS2008(B2) with no silly boot spinups :)

I used this method to flash my H310 as well and it was easy peasy.

I cant carry on with that route, as my H310 dont get recognized anymore...

Any idea how to get them back?

Fond this solution in an other forum:

You didn't brick anything.
You need to get a hold of an old sas2flash.efi and flash the 6gbpsas.fw file to the card.
Then write the sas address back to the card.
After that you'll be able to use another old sas2flash.efi to flash IT over IR. Note newer flasher won't let you do this. if i remember correctly I used P15 flasher to do this step and flashed the card to FW 19.
Then flash it to latest 20.00.07 IT FW (I use P20 flasher for this).

Can could anyone help me doing the right stuff?

Hmmm....I am not sure. I've done 4 of these without major issues. Did you use an old version of sas2flash.efi as your quote suggests?

I have no experience with the EFI way so I can only refer to other peoples findings.

I have been asking for a brief report and @Maglin wrote this up.

I wonder why the first megarec command failed and why the subsequent one completed !?!?

Is the file sbrempty.bin the right one? Is it present?

What is the exact fault message? Can you try running it once again?

According to Maglin, only sas2flsh should quit with the PAL error!

That is the point where you switch to EFI shell and do the rest with the sas2flash.efi. (note, spelling is not sas2flsh)

Edit:

From you second post I get,

neither megarec nor sas2flsh recognize your card anymore. O.o

Is this the same after rebooting? If you issue the commands straight after the megarec -cleanflash, then it's normal.

After a reboot the adapter should be back though.

Did you apply the tape mod?
