Griff1324
I need to move files from one SMB share to another SMB share. How can I go about doing this using Putty and Midnight Commander? The only instructions that I can find talk about moving data between disks and not shares. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Squid
Same concept. Left panel set to /mnt/user/Sourcesharename/ Right panel to /mnt/user/Destinationsharename Then move the folder(s)/files. Or alternatively (albeit slower), do it through Windows. fanningert
In this example I would like to move the file "movie" of your share "your_source_share" to the share "your_target_source". Open Midnight commander Select on the left side the source share (example: /mnt/user/your_source_share) and select on the right the target share (example: /mnt/user/your_target_share). When you are on the left site, move the selector (green line) to the directory you like to move and press F6. And commit the MOVE popup with ENTER. Hint: You can switch between left and right via the TAB key. @Squid: You were a like bit faster. Edited October 1, 2017 by fanningert Quote Link to comment
RonUSMC
@Griff1324 I did this when moving tons of files, but I ran into problems with copies on 2 different disks. I ran Fix Common Problems I think and it identified them. The better method I found was using the UnBalance plugin. That allows you to do exactly what you asked and several other things.
