Can I move a disk in the array to another slot in my tower?

Featured Replies

Looked around a bit - seems like unraid should handle a drive position change just fine.  I'm about to add another parity drive and I want to take my disk 1 (which is second down in my tower) and put it in another open drive bay so that my second parity drive will be just below my current parity drive(to satisfy my ocd and organization needs).  As far as I'm aware I can just move the disk 1 to another position in my tower without any data loss. Just stop the array, move the disk 1 to another position and then restart the tower. Will this work ok?

Yes.

You can even move it to a different SATA port on the MB or an add-in controller!

Is this valid for parity drives too?

Yes, except with some RAID controllers.
