High-Water Question

Featured Replies

I have my "Media" share set to High-Water but it keeps writing to the disk s with the least space. I have 2x 5TB drives and a bunch of 2TB drives. The 5TB drives are almost full be unRAID keeps writing to them even though some of the 2TB drives have more than triple the free space. Am I misunderstanding how High-Water works or is there something wrong with its implementation on my install?

Is the media share configured to include all disks?

It is also worth mentioning that the Split Level setting for a share will over-ride the Allocation method if there is contention between them about which disk to use for a file.

It is using all disks. Split level is set to automatic.

After all drives hit 312 gig free (5T/2/2/2/2) it began filling drives to 156 gig.

Any chance you wrote a 60gig file to disk1 recently? All else being equal it appears that right before disk1 hit 156gig free a very large file was written.  Right now it looks like new files will get written to disk3.
