Dual LAN controllers

Featured Replies

I plan to build a media NAS based on unRaid 4.0.  The m/b I have has two integrated Intel onboard network controllers.

One is 82573E and the other is 8254PI.  Both are Gigabit controllers supporting 1000Base-T and both are Pro/1000 compatible (as per intel.com).

Are either of those (both?) supported by unRaid 4.0?

Which one is recommended for unRaid use?

Any non standard configuration required so that unRaid supports the chosen one?

Cheers, tzotz

Look at your motherboard manual and if one is on a PCI bus and one is on PCIe or so-called "CSA" interface, go into the bios and disable the one on the PCI bus.  It's on the 'todo list' to add dual NIC support in the future.

I'll do that and report back.

Any progress on this ? I would love to use dual NICs.

I'd love to see dual ethernet support (esp. since a NAS is heavy network load and probably to/from more than one machines).
