Rajahal
Great find, thank you! Just ordered one. Quote Link to comment
JustinAiken
Beware... supermicro sent them a large batch missing the full-size bracket... I've been waiting weeks for mine. Quote Link to comment
Rajahal
Well, too late for me, I've already ordered mine. Thanks for the heads up, though. Quote Link to comment
abq-pete
I'll find out in the next day or so... Regards, Peter Quote Link to comment
abq-pete
Drat! Only low profile bracket! I have another coming from Provantage. Let's see if they include the missing tall bracket. By the way, the bracket from the Adaptec 1430SA fits nicely so while I am waiting, I can just swap them. Regards, Peter Quote Link to comment
abq-pete
For those missing the bracket (MCP-240-00073-0N FH L-BRACKET FOR STD LP CARD), I just spoke with Supermicro at (408) 503-8000 ext 4. They will be sending the replacement bracket to me immediately. Suggest you contact them if you are missing it and still waiting. Regards, Peter Quote Link to comment
Rajahal
Thanks abq-pete, I'll be calling them shortly. For now I just bent the low profile bracket into the right shape Quote Link to comment
Rajahal
Huh, that was weird. abq-pete, I called the number you gave me and they told me I need to go through the retailer (ewiz) since I didn't buy the card directly from them. Yet they helped you? Quote Link to comment
JustinAiken
Ewiz finally sent my bracket, got it yesterday.. Quote Link to comment
Rajahal
Just contacted ewiz and they said they will send me the bracket as soon as they get it from SuperMicro. So it could be a while. No worries, though, the bent half-height bracket still keeps the card snug enough in the slot that I'm not worried about it failing in the meantime. Quote Link to comment
nAffie
I have the card installed without a bracket... The PCI-e port holds the card real tight... Quote Link to comment
Rajahal
Really? I tried that first, but it seemed a little loose to me. SAS-SAS cables are pretty heavy...maybe you are using the lighter weight SAS-SATA breakout cables. Quote Link to comment
nAffie
The SAS-SATA cables are not that heavy, and the drive cages they're connected with are at the top of my case, so they don't generate downwards or sideways pressure to the card... Quote Link to comment
abq-pete
Huh, that was weird. abq-pete, I called the number you gave me and they told me I need to go through the retailer (ewiz) since I didn't buy the card directly from them. Yet they helped you? Sorry for the late response... Yes, I told them that I bought it from eWiz/Superbiiz. She did a bit of research and then told me she would send it out immediately. Perhaps she thought I was good looking? Perhaps she feared that I might be a stalker? In any case, i got the bracket the next day. Regards, Peter Quote Link to comment
Messiah Khan
My pair of cards arrived without the full height brackets as well. I've emailed Supermicro UK, but have yet to hear back from them. Will hopefully be able to get the full height PCI brackets. Meanwhile I have just put them in without brackets and they seem secure enough. Quote Link to comment
