How to setup 2 HDDs in raid1 in unassigned devices?

Featured Replies

Hello, I am using "resilio sync" docker app and I noticed it is currently doing a lot of spinning every x amount of time. And I cannot find how to change that parameter.

Instead, I was thinking of getting 2 old 1TB HDDs, setting them up in raid1 in unassigned devices, and have a cron job that will sync my resilio folders directly to the array every week. I was wondering how to do that.

I haven't test this for a while but it was possible to create a pool using the cache slots, the unassign both and mount with the UD plugin, you'd just need to mount one of them for the pool to mount, used/free space was incorrectly reported though.

Oooh I already have a cache pool of 2 small SSDs. I wonder how I can proceed for that. I guess move eveyrthing back to the array, then disabling my SSDs, etc. Hmmm Seems cool to do though!

Did you run into any trouble with it? Like can the raid1 break and I have to redo?

It should be OK to just temporarily unassign current cache devices and create a new pool, at least I've done it before without issues, then just reassign the old pool, but best to backup just in case.

Ok thanks, I am still in the process of migrating all my data off my drives. Once it is done I'll give it a try! Thanks!!
