February 25, 20188 yr Community Expert Moving my former windows OS drive from pc into unraid. Drive has 3 partitions. Will preclear remove the partitions in addition to zeroing the drive? Or should I do that before moving it in
February 25, 20188 yr Community Expert I believe the answer is 'No'. I am basing this response on the fact a partition which was placed on HD's by a certain MB manufacturer's BIOS caused all sorts of problems with assigning drives to the array.
February 25, 20188 yr I believe the answer is 'Yes'. I'm basing my answer on the fact that preclear over-writes the entire disk, including the partition table.
February 25, 20188 yr Author Community Expert Uh oh if two pros aren’t sure what hope is there for me lol. I guess to be safe I will just eliminate the partitions from my windows machine before moving it
February 25, 20188 yr Community Expert Preclearing will remove everything on the disk, including existing partitions.
