USB Error

Featured Replies

I recently got a trial key and installed a vm box with complete success. I decided to make a few hardware changes, an extra graphics card and an extra ssd, when I put everything together UNRAID had this error. There is a physical problem with this usb device. My arrays were also stop too.

I did did some research and decided to purchase an UNRAID 6 basic key and this didn’t fix it either. I’ve tried several different usb devices and they won’t work, but if I plug the same devices into my laptop as a test, (without installing the key) it’s works just fine.

Any help would be great!

Do you mean you installed unRAID in a VM, or you installed a VM in unRAID?

Where are you seeing this error?

Try another USB port, preferably USB2.

I booted unRAID from the usb and from there using the web interface, created my VM.

I also tried every USB port available.

Are you sure you prepared the flash correctly? Flash drive no larger than 32GB, formatted FAT32, labelled UNRAID all caps?

Different flash drive or different port are about the only solutions to this problem.

I used both the USB flash preparing tool and formatted it correctly.

Fat32 and all caps with several different usb devices and every port on my computer.

You could see if a BIOS update or some BIOS setting will help but you might have to figure that out on your own, or you could tell us more about your hardware to see if anyone else has an idea.

I have reset the cmos and followed tutorial videos from Linus tech tips and other as well to make sure my bios settings are where the need to be.

I habe a gigabyte z97-HD3 v2.0 motherboard with 32G of ddr3 and a i7 4790K

I may have figured it out. I had my bios settings set to legacy first and changed them to legacy only. From there the usb stick worked.
