This is so odd. I was trying to shut down the system via GUI and all of a sudden, on it's own, message that "array turned good" and parity check started. I promptly cancelled it. Here is the diagnostics that I just grabbed. The system has NOT been restarted.

Parity check started because:

Interesting thing is, the server did not physically reboot. Should I let the server do the parity check? And, once it finishes, move the data discs to the new array

What do you mean? The diags posted are just after rebooting, if there was an unclean shutdown you should let the parity check finish, though if there's something else you want to do you can cancel it and just start another one as soon as convenient.

What I wanted to do is to reboot the server. However, the GUI froze for about 30 to 45 seconds and then went into parity check. It physically never rebooted. I was standing over it and would have seen it reboot. I am positive. That machine takes at least 2 minutes to reboot and... I would definitely know the difference.

In any case. I got really tired of battling with that pc and moved all of the data discs over to the new server and am rebuilding the system there now. I think that all of my data is still intact. I just can't understand why the other server kept dropping discs at random for no apparent reason.

The parity check started immediately after the last reboot, may if only noticed later.

I understand that the logs show it. I had my laptop on top of the server case. I was actually thinking about moving the discs. I was in the gui and started shutting down the dockers when the gui froze. It was not more that 30 seconds. I thought of physically pushing the off button as I didn't care anymore about an unclean shutdown. That's when the parity check started. There was NO PHYSICAL REBOOT.

I totally understand. Once my new machine is up and running, I'll play with the old one to see if I can recreate the problems.
