Want to confirm support for this SATA card.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just started my unRAID server and I have already hit the limit of 4 sata drives on my motherboard (ga-945gzm-s2) so I am looking to get a decent sata card.

From what I have read on the forums and also on the wiki the Promise sata3000 tx4 seems to be the way to go http://www.promise.com/product/product_detail_eng.asp?segment=Non-RAID%20HBAs&product_id=139

I just want to confirm that it is a decent card and that it will work with unRAID.

Sorry to go over something that is most likely very obvious to everyone but I just want to be certain ( I don't like the idea of getting the wrong one :P )

That's what I have and it works great. I got if from Amazon for $77.99 and no shipping. Newegg.com has it for 74.95 with 5 shipping, so about the same.

I have two of them and they both work like a champ.

I have one drive connected to the controller and I have serious problems.

The drive somehow, is allways short of new music and unseen movies. :-)

Thanks for the replies. I actually ended up using a spare sunix 4 port card i had http://www.sunix.com.tw/it/en/Product_Detail.php?cate=2&class_a_id=34&sid=367

Would there be much of a difference between the two cards? I will eventually need to get another one and I'm wondering if it would really be worth going for the promise one considering it's twice the price.

That Sunix card is SATA vs SATAII.  You probably won't notice any difference though, at least not due to SATA vs. SATAII.
