CyberMew
Any idea why the count is increasing when I have shutdown normally? Is it a controller drive issue? I’m on 6.6.7. Quote Link to comment
CyberMew
I’m also getting very high temp since installing the M2 SSD, with today getting up to 71degrees celcius. When I first installed it was below 40 degrees celcius. It fluctuates quite a bit between 50-70 now. Is this normal? It is a 512GB 970pro Samsung nvme M2 drive. Frank1940
From the Spec's on this drive: Environmental Specs Operating Temperature 0 - 70 ℃ Operating Temperature You have exceeded the temperature limit. It might be a self-protection circuit inside the drive. First thing I would suggest is that you open up the case and clean all dust and/or dirt out. Make sure that all case fans are running. CyberMew
It’s weird because everything is new. New mobo new case new M2 stick. Wonder what’s causing it to heat up. Some say is controller temps and not the stick temp itself. Have not touch it physically to see the temps.. Quote Link to comment
CyberMew
As for the shutdown issue some say is a controller driver issue. I’m not exactly sure what that means though. Quote Link to comment
Frank1940
For servers, the recommended practice is for all of the air to come in over the drives first at the front of the case and then be exhausted out of the rear of the case. This means that all case openings behind the HD's should be blocked and all fans in that area exhausting. I understand with other setups, where there are powerful (heat producing) GPU's, this may not be the case. Quote Link to comment
CyberMew
Yes that is exactly right. My hdd temps are better than ever. I’ve read that the temp reported might be the controller temps and not the M2 drive temp itself. Is that possible? Quote Link to comment
alexhalbi
You could try to buy a cooler for your m.2 drive. I have an icy box passive cooler attached to my Samsung 970 Evo Plus and it is around 40°C Quote Link to comment
