September 27, 20196 yr Hey, so i know usually u need to have parity atleast the same size as the biggest in the array, question is now, what happens if its not? Does the biggest array drive just get "not full used"? Or does it just simply not work? I ask because i want to switch my parity drive, but i found i dont really need 8TB (i upload everything to google now), but i still have 2 8tb drives left (which i dont want to use for parity - its the crappy archive drives which fails after 1 year of light useage...) So can i limit a 8 TB array drive to 6TB so that i can use a 6TB Parity drive? (all other drives are 4TB) Edited September 27, 20196 yr by nuhll

September 27, 20196 yr Unraid will not accept a parity disk which is too small and array can not be started.
September 27, 20196 yr Author Yes, thanks. Could that be a suggestion? To make it possible to use lower parity drives and just limit the array drives or is it technical impossible? (it would give more options for upgrading) Edited September 27, 20196 yr by nuhll
September 27, 20196 yr I suppose if you really wanted to you could force the data disk to appear as a 6TB by setting a HPA.
