2webbed
Hi, My disk was disabled after the array heath report came back as Passed and parity check good. The SMART shows Healthy. I am unsure how to proceed next. I have attached the diagnostic report. Any help would be appreciated. Version 6.7.2 Michael tower-diagnostics-20191019-0641.zip Quote Link to comment
trurl
No SMART report for disabled Disk1. Check connections, power and SATA, both ends, then post a new diagnostic. Quote Link to comment
2webbed
Hi, Well I powered down and checked connections, power and SATA. Power on and disk 1 now shows unassigned. The dropdown for disk 1 does not show the original disk as an option. So I think that means the drive is dead? Or is there options to proceed that I have missed? Thank you. Quote Link to comment

So I think that means the drive is dead? It means Unraid can't see the disk. Could be disk, could be cable(s), could be port... Are there any power splitters involved? Quote Link to comment

2webbed
Hi, No power splitters, however, it does have 3 power connectors off the same power cable from PS. It is same cable that powers disk 2. I will try a different power cord as it could be a bad connector as you indicated. Before I powered off Disk 1 under SMART said Healthy. EDIT: OK I swapped power and SATA cables and drive does not come up. So I guess it has died. 3 months out of warranty of course Thank you. trurl
Do you have another port to try? Quote Link to comment
2webbed
Hi, Yes I tried a different port and cable. Quote Link to comment
trurl
I guess you will have to replace it. Then assign the new disk to slot1, start the array, and Unraid will rebuild its contents from the parity calculation. Do you have another copy of anything important and irreplaceable? 2webbed
Hi, I have installed a new drive and the rebuild is in progress. That's a good question. I have been putting files randomly on drives but usually anything important I keep in 2 places. The majority of unraid is media server and my photos. All photos backed up in 3 places. Media server files no backup. Thanks for all your help. Quote Link to comment
