rkulagow
I have a 4 drive array of 5TB drives with a single parity disk. One of the 5TB drives in the array has gone bad. A 6TB drive is actually cheaper than 5TB now, so that's what I purchased. Can I install the 6TB drive as a second parity disk, rebuild, then take the existing 5TB parity disk and turn it into a standard drive? This will allow me to upgrade to 6 TB drives in the future, because the parity drive will already be 6TB. Quote Link to comment

You could, but there's the parity swap procedure precisely for those situations. Quote Link to comment
