500 Internal Server Error [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

I am getting a 500 Internal Server Error from time to time on the interface for login and or use.

I have to restart the host from cli for this to go back to normal, then this will last until the next time which has no specific time range.

Thought????

Next time it happens and you log in, grab the diagnostics

diagnostics

and then post the zip file created here.

Another item which I notice on this server is that CONSOLE ssh from a machine to the server, the ssh session stops after a short period of time. This does not happen on another host which I have installed a version of unraid.

Have you tried booting in safe mode?

No, how would that fix any issues? Just trying to understand.

Safe Mode stops any plugins from running.   Since plugins can modify core Unraid components, using Safe Mode should always be one of the first things tried when troubleshooting unexpected behaviour.

Did reboot in SAFE mode, no plugins loaded, ssh from PC to Server still drops after about 15 seconds, does not happen on another host which I have installed UnRaid, this only happens on the host which I have sent diags.

And if you use a new empty flash drive? Can be with a trial key.

Not sure I understand. Are you stating that this could be because I am using a trial key? Or are you stating that I should flash a new flash drive with a new trial key?

No, I didn't even noticed that, I'm saying to try a new config, i..e, another flash with stock Unraid, to make sure it's not a config issue.

how would that effect my data on that array, would I need to move the data first? Still learning Unraid.

  • Community Expert

It wouldn't assuming the problem happens with the array stopped, if not you'd need to re-assign the drives same as they were, still wouldn't affect your data, as long as you don't assign a data drive as parity.

I think before I do that, I will see if Squid has any input with the diagnostics if he has time to review.

I am going to mark this as solved as I believe I have found the issue. When setting up VLANs it seems to cause the problem. I have not really figured out how to correctly add VLANs.

I have 4 NICs, I would like to set two as Load Balancing for all vlans, with the other 2 as LINK AG. I am not sure if I should be placing the VLAN on the AG or the other pair.

Can I use the keyboard to pull the diagnostics because I can't access the GUI? It's in the middle of rebuilding parity as I just replaced a failed drive so I'm hesitant to do a hard reboot. Is there any other way to get to the GUI than through the IP 10.xxx.xxx.xxx? I can ping the server and the apps are responding but I can't see the dashboard, main, or login screen.

Is there a way to see if parity rebuild is complete without having the GUI?

You can, see the diags link.

nginx is throwing the error, so many people have recommended running this to restart the entire webserver:

/etc/rc.d/rc.nginx restart

However! Many thanks to another forum post, I found this which corrects the root cause for my GUI issues - a PHP crash:

ssh in and switch to root (or use sudo) to run:

/etc/rc.d/rc.php-fpm restart
