Lenovo Multimedia Remote with keyboard N5901 (with removable holiday skins) $25

Featured Replies

I bought one of these and it's turned out to be worthless.  Tiny, hard to hold and not backlit makes it only valuable as something to throw at the neighbor's dog.

I'll sell mine for cost of shipping plus $2.

I have the unit and the tiny usb dongle that comes with it.

I'll take it!  I'll send you a PM.

Nice review of this keyboard.  Mostly favorable.

I bought a Rii copy cat that I like, the back light does come in handy. I have heard positive feedback on the Lenovo so I had to give it a shot. I am currently using a full size keyboard and mouse with my living room HTPC.

the Rii Mini is awesome.....at least for XBMC it is perfect!!!!

I feel compelled to also share that I have one of these and really don't like it at all.  The keyboard is not easy to type on, not backlit, etc.  The trackball has the tendency to move on its own.  I used this for about 2 days then gave up on it.

I also have one and it has excellent range and is very solid, but the unlit keyboard is a deal breaker.  It's also so small that it's very frustrating.  For XBMC on Windows, I'm still looking for a good remote.  Suggestions?

I have not found one that is perfect for typing. They are all just to small. Luckily I do not use Windows much on my HTPC and and able to use a basic WMC remote to control WMC7. I like the rii due to the back lit keyboard,, but I like a trackball more than a touch pad. That's why I am giving the Lenovo a shot.

The best I've found is something with a touchscreen, such as the iPod Touch running Collect3 software.  If you want physical buttons, then you'll need something like a Droid running iXBMC.  Both are expensive, but work really well when they work.

I moved away from the iPod Touch because the battery life with wifi on is pretty bad.  I don't want to have to charge my remote every day.  I recently got a Droid 2, but haven't had much time to play around with the remote software yet.  Luckily, I can use Tasker to tell the Droid to automatically turn wifi on when I turn on the remote software, and turn wifi back off when the remote software exits.  This should help save battery life.  Maybe something similar can be done with apple products, I don't know.
