[SOLVED] SAS drive size not recognized through PERC H310

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Through what seems like eons scouring the internet for solutions, I believe my issue to be at a lower level than Unraid, but I believe this forum might be the best place to turn to for answers because no solution I have tried yet has solved my problem.

I have a Dell R610 with a PERC H310 installed, and three IBM 15k SAS and 2 Dell 15k SAS drives installed. The Dell drives (came with the server) show up fine, but the IBM drives (purchased from Ebay) are definitely recognized by the controller, but can't seem to figure out what size they are, and do not show up at all in Unraid.

sg_format --format didn't work. I get the following error:

root@Tower:~# sg_format --format --size=512 -v /dev/sg2 -S

I found this thread on STH to try sg_sanitize -B, but got an illegal request error.

Also tried

sg_format --resize --count=-1 /dev/sg2

Which does now show the block size as 512; however, sg_format --format still produces the same output as above.

Edit: Looks like it did not actually change the block size. I believe the drives are write-protected, but I have no idea how to remove that.
