Civic1201
Hi there, as mentioned above I am struggling with low write performance to my cache SSD over LAN. Here are the specs: - Asrock J4105 - 2x 4GB DDR4-2400 - 2x 10TB WD White Label - 1x Seagate Ironwolf 10TB -> Parity - 1x WD Blue 1TB SSD for cache Diagnostic file is attached. Any ideas? tower-diagnostics-20200516-1654.zip Edited May 16, 2020 by Civic1201 details added Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Start by running a single stream iperf test to make sure network is working correctly. Quote Link to comment
Civic1201
When I try to run Quote iperf>iperf3 -c 192.168.xxx.xx it tells me "connection refused" Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You need iperf3 to iperf3 or iperf2 to iperf2, it won't work with different versions. Quote Link to comment
Civic1201
Ok, test has been done: So the problem seems not to be network related right? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Just now, Civic1201 said: So the problem seems not to be network related right? Doesn't look like it is, enable turbo write and transfer directly to array, is the speed better or same? Quote Link to comment
Civic1201
Ok... - disabled cache for share - set reconstruct write - copy a file of 14GB to share So slightly faster, but not a huge improvement. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Speed being the same suggests a problem with the source, do you have another computer you could test width? Ideally one running Windows 10 since there are some reports of lower SMB performance for some with Linux or OSX. Quote Link to comment
Civic1201
Yes, I have a dualboot system. So I can try it with Win10 and report back. Quote Link to comment
Civic1201
OK, seems to be a problem with Ubuntu: This is directly written to the cache ssd from Win10 without any modification. Edited May 16, 2020 by Civic1201 Quote Link to comment
