Newbie with a Dell

Featured Replies

I'm new to Unraid so I don't know what I'm doing. I'm running on a Dell R710. I got Unraid running, but I can't select any disks within the webui. I went back into the bike settings, and I can only enable ata mode for the embedded sata. What am I doing wrong? I would really appreciate any kind of assistance.

Please post the diagnostics: Tools-> Diagnostics

When I first set up the r710 I disabled the raid card within bios. That is when I discovered I couldn't see any disks. I went back into bios and reenabled the perc card, but now the only thing I can select for discs is the raid card. What am I doing wrong here? Thank you for trying to help me out.

Looks like you created a RAID volume with all 4 disks, you can create a RAID0 volume with each disk, that's done on the controller BIOS, but note that RAID controllers are not recommended for Unraid, you should use a regular HBA.

I purchased the server from Amazon and it came with the raid controller. Is there a way for me to be replace the raid controller with just a saw card?

There should be, but brand name servers can sometimes not accept all HBAs, you can ask or search on the hardware or storage sub-forums.
