Biggest drive not a parity drive with two equally sized drives

Recommended Posts

Hi Unraid community,

I am running into a problem assigning a 8TB drive to my data drive pool.

Recently I bought two HGST HUH728080AL4200 (8TB drives) orginally they are formatted in 4kn sectors, but because my PERC H710P Mini does not support this format I reformatted them to 512 sectors.

My current setup is shown in the picture below:

The problem is that when I try to move parity drive (1 or 2) to the data pool it says the biggest drive is not a parity drive.

What I tried so far:

  • Swap parity positions,
  • Unassigning one of them and re-adding to the drive pool,
  • Swapping with a data drive.

Omreport reports that both drives are exactly the same size as shown in the pictures below:

I really hope someone is able to help!

Kind regards,

Jorn
