(solved) Smart History not installed??

Featured Replies

When I click on Smart History this is what I get?

Sorry: cannot run smarthistory.

The /boot/smarthistory directory does not exist

What do I need to do to fix this?  Is Smart History different then smart tools?

Is this what I need to install?

Now I am getting this

Sorry: cannot run smarthistory.

The "php" interperter is not installed.

Guess I need to install php?

Exactly. (or upgrade to 5.0beta2, where php is part of the distribution. )

I just installed  and ran it.  Is this anything I should be concerned about?

Disk 1: OK - Raw_Read_Error_Rate is 127274841

Disk 4: OK - Seek_Error_Rate is 245608092

No way to know.  Is the normalized value for that parameter below its affiliated failure threshold?

If you are going to run smarthistory you need to read a bit about what the values indicate.

Basically NONE of the values in the report are really useful except temperature, re-allocated sectors and sectors pending re-allocation.

Ok so it's similar to the pre clear and that I should look for the same things?

Thanks Joe

Thanks Joe

It is EXACTLY like the SMART values show in a pre-clear analysis because it is the exact same command used to grab the data.

It uses a feature of google to graph it.

  • 2 weeks later...

After recently being spooked, I decided it was time to watch my drives' smart values, but unMenu's smart history doesn't work as-is....giving me the same 'directory does not exist' message- which brought me here.

I've created a directory on my flash drive and unzipped smarthistory into it, but I'm stuck beyond that point.

Whenever I try to CD into that directory, the system acts as though it doesn't exist.  I'm guessing I'm a victim of improper syntax and linux ignorance.  Could someone give me the exact commands I need to issue to resolve this problem or complete this install.   Thanks!

Also:  In case it matters, I'm using 5.0b2.

i know this is old thread...trying to install smarthistory. i try to create the directory in telnet when i do it creates the folder in the root directory not flash/boot/smart history but rather flash/smarthistory...so i created the directory manually /flash/boot/smarthistory and i unziped the contents of smarthistor.zip into that folder but it acts like its not there..using version: 5.0-rc4...thanks!

From telnet or the system console you would type:

mkdir /boot/smarthistory

from windows you would create a directory

\\tower\flash\smarthistory

They are both the same place.  /boot/smarthistory would be visible from windows as \\tower\flash\smarthistory

(it is exported to windows with the share name "flash" instead of its actual mount point name of /boot.

Unzip your program in it from windows once you create the directory in the correct spot.

Hey Joe..again! ha ha thanks for your response the thing is i tried creating through telnet using the mkdir /boot/smarthistory and it creates in the root flash directory i can watch the folder as i do it and it pops up right there...it does not create it within the boot folder...so i made it manually /boot/smarthistory and i unziped the download smarthistory.zip into that folder then i pull up tellnet and then i try to cd my way into that folder and it says every time that it doesnt exist...?

after several tries of doing the same thing finally im able to telnet into the directory /boot/smarthistory...weird because i didnt do anything different just kept trying ha...

Installation:

====================

- Unzip to a directory on your flash (I use /boot/smarthistory/)

- cd to the directory where you have it installed, and run it with this command line:

Code: [select]

  smarthistory

when i try this from this link http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3146 it just says command not found

The flash is the /boot. (flash = /boot). flash and /boot refer to the same location. /boot/smarthistory = flash/smarthistory , they are the same.

The flash is the /boot. (flash = /boot). flash and /boot refer to the same location. /boot/smarthistory = flash/smarthistory , they are the same.

More accurately:

In Linux

/boot/smarthistory

is the exact same location seen from window's file explorer

\\tower\flash\smarthistory

oh damnit sorry im an idiot! for some reason i have a flash/boot folder that was their before i tried to install smarthistory lol  you explained it well Joe im just an idiot didnt read it closely enough i reckon...thanks though!
