  1. Thanks @Hoopster I ended up installing the E3C246D4U-2T motherboard today! So far everything looks good with one weird oddity. My server sits at my parents house (they have 1Gbit symmetrical internet) and the BMC Webui was great! Unfortunately, for some reason, when I got home, the WebUI IP no longer pings or able to be access on VPN or even on the UnRAID terminal itself. Oddly, IPMI tools plugin on UnRAID still works, and ipmitools command line still works too. I'm stumped why the WebUI isn't working. Is the BMC 1.80 version listed for the E3C246D4U the same as the one for this board? It's not listed on this boards webpage. Edit: It appears I can't access the WebUI if I'm using wireguard on UnRAID to VPN in, or ping 10.0.1.14 directly if I'm on UnRAID's terminal. It works with another local machine on the network. How strange! ipmitool bmc info Device ID : 32 Device Revision : 1 Firmware Revision : 1.14 IPMI Version : 2.0 Manufacturer ID : 49622 Manufacturer Name : Unknown (0xC1D6) Product ID : 771 (0x0303) Product Name : Unknown (0x303) Device Available : yes Provides Device SDRs : no Additional Device Support : Sensor Device SDR Repository Device SEL Device FRU Inventory Device IPMB Event Receiver IPMB Event Generator Chassis Device Aux Firmware Rev Info : 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 Set in Progress : Set Complete Auth Type Support : MD5 Auth Type Enable : Callback : MD5 : User : MD5 : Operator : MD5 : Admin : MD5 : OEM : MD5 IP Address Source : DHCP Address IP Address : 10.0.1.14 Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 MAC Address : d0:50:99:f6:f1:00 SNMP Community String : AMI IP Header : TTL=0x40 Flags=0x40 Precedence=0x00 TOS=0x10 BMC ARP Control : ARP Responses Enabled, Gratuitous ARP Disabled Gratituous ARP Intrvl : 0.0 seconds Default Gateway IP : 10.0.1.1 Default Gateway MAC : d0:50:99:fc:e1:d0 Backup Gateway IP : 0.0.0.0 Backup Gateway MAC : 00:00:00:00:00:00 802.1q VLAN ID : Disabled 802.1q VLAN Priority : 0 RMCP+ Cipher Suites : 0,1,2,3,6,7,8,11,12,15,16,17 Cipher Suite Priv Max : caaaaaaaaaaaXXX : X=Cipher Suite Unused : c=CALLBACK : u=USER : o=OPERATOR : a=ADMIN : O=OEM Bad Password Threshold : 0 Invalid password disable: no Attempt Count Reset Int.: 0 User Lockout Interval : 0
  2. @Hoopster I ended up buying one! Being you are the expert on this board, are there any gotchas I need to look out for when doing a hardware swap? I see a few things to check: ctrl+alt+f3 for IGPU and onboard IPMI graphics at the same time. Turn off Turbo boost? go file configuration for sensors? I appreciate the help!
  3. Thanks! With the board with 2x10gbe, I can't figure out a reason either! It sounds like the 9500 would be good enough and in the future I could find a xeon E-22xxG for more firepower. Otherwise it sounds like I will be saving some power moving from a 3700x + 1650super to just an i5-9500. I lose some cores but I dont think I need 16cores..haha I'm running these containers currently and minimal in CPU needs besides Plex. Plex, Tautulli, Overseer, SWAG, NextCloud, Project Send, Filebot, and AssettoCorsa steamCMD
  4. Is this board worth it to buy in 2023? Someone is selling them for $295shipped. I'm currently running a 3700x with a GPU for Plex and started to look into getting an IPMI Intel quicksync setup. The newer stuff seems to be more expensive and I have a spare i5-9500 laying around. My use case is mainly Plex and file storage. There is an assetto corsa server but I suspect there isn't much firepower needed for steamCMD.
  5. I ended up adding a few more items over the past year or so. Nvidia 1650 Super for Plex transcoding (Not bad for what it is!) Dell H310 LSI9211-8i 2x SK Hynix 500GB SSD for Cache pool 2x 14TB, 1x10TB when there were shuckables on sale Ignore the hanging SSD..that was a 512GB Samsung SSD that I'm using with Unassigned devices.
  6. Not sure what changed, since my post and your post but I just tried it with 6.9.1 and the latest and its working fine now. /shrug.
  7. Anyone using this with 6.9? I haven't used this in a long time and noticed it's now not showing nvidia-smi. Docker variable for Nvidia visible devices is set to all.
  8. Similar boat here. 6.8.3 working fine. 6.9.0 not working. I read in earlier posts that autofans was the issue. I removed it and it still was having issues. Other post mentioned telegraf and input.hddtemps. I turned hddtemps off and it still persists. I do have input.smart enabled so that might be the issue. I ultimatedly turned off all telegraf/influx/varken and it now goes down to standby now. Curious.
  9. Did anyone figure out if there is a resolution to this?
  10. I would suggest looking at this thread: https://forums.plex.tv/t/info-plex-4k-transcoding-and-you-aka-the-rules-of-4k/378203
  11. Thank you! This is my first time with Fractal Design and this is a very well-made case. I love the cable management and I know it can be neater! I will also get going on labels soon enough. Cable management is a dream without custom cables! I did setup for future expansion with the cable routes for at least 5 more drives. I appreciate the tips. 1. Currently, AppDATA is setup to cache only but also backed up via CA AppData/Backup to one of the HDDs. I will work on a better gameplan for that. I do appreciate the concern for these hand me down SSDs. I figure I would keep these running until the SMART status shows wear aging and purchase some new ones down the line, most likely 2x1TB. Currently, I do not use it as a temp are for writing stuff yet. The HDD disks are usually spinning due to plex access the benefits of downloading new content to the SSD doesn't seem very beneficial at the moment. Based on that, write is very low on the SSD at the moment as Plex transcoding uses /dev/shm too. 2. The HGST4TB was existing and WD10TB shuckable was existings and I purchased a new WD10TB shuckable to get started here. I definitely anticipate buying 10-12TB drives from now on. Preclearing definitely took forever on a 10TB when I did them all. After reading so much about preclear here and infant mortality it is definitely not a bad idea to do preclearing on all drives prior to installation despite how long it takes. 3. Yes I am! It is patched and able to run 13 transcodes on the 970 with about 70W reported from Nvidia-SMI. Plex Docker has been happy with this + transcoding on /dev/shm 4. I totally forgot this pic was taken when I was fiddling with the CPU fan configuration. It was setup as a pull case fan, pull CPU fan for the sake of easier to clean the CPU heatsink. I then realized after taking this pic that it would be better with the CPU pushing the air through. I appreciate the analyzing. I blame portrait modes lol. The best part is that it resides in my old room at my parents where they have Sonic.net 1Gbps up/down with no data caps or monitoring. Hourly speedtests plugin shows roughly 800-900 symmetric speeds which makes it a fun one for plex! Pretty much have automated requesting/downloading/sorting for Plex and just enjoying now.
  12. Hi All, My name is Derek and I'm fairly new to UnRAID. As my old plex server decided to die, I ended up looking at options for replacing it. In the end, I ended up converting my old gaming rig into an all-in-one machine UnRAID server. So far, its been fun! ## Specifications i7-4790 24GB DDR3 RAM (2x8GB,2x4GB) 2x10TB (1 Parity) 1x4TB 2x128GB SSD Cache-RAID1 Fractal Design Define 7 Case Corsair CS550M PSU Nvidia GTX970 I was originally going to buy a Define R6 but Define 7 was announced the week I was planning to buy! The new Define 7 has a fan hub at the top of the case which is interesting placement but overall, i love this case. Server sounds dead silent when fans are idle and when it is on, sound levels aren't terrible like a rack server. I ended up with 3x140mm front and 1x120mm rear fan for now. ## Dockers running Filebot, LetsEncrypt, Krusader, Ombi, Netdata, Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana, Plex, Varken, Folding@Home ## VM that is runs from time to time Macinabox ## Future expansion SAS controller (one of the onboard SATA ports went bad) 7 more drives! Possible new PSU as needed Possible 1660 super GPU to reduce wattage/H265 support for Plex Cheers everyone
