  1. Hi, Tonight, I configured a UnRAID VM on my VMWare to test, practice, view how UnRAID manage disk addition and other things we may want to do. For this, I assigned couple of 2Gb disks to my array. I started to copy a .mkv file to fill my array. UnRAID was unable to copy the file. It failed whern the first 2Gb disk has been filled. Seems logic if you keep in mind that an array is only many "independent" disk working together to "virtualize" them into a share. Wich means that the biggest file I can place into my array depend of the biggest disk into the Array. (Assuming it is empty) Am I right or I missed something ?
  2. Hi, As I would like to test different things in UnRAID, Il would like to run a VM of UnRAID in my VmWare Infra. Have you tested it ? How was your config ? Thanks,
  3. Curently, my project is on pause. I must work on an issue on one of my ESX before. But the future plan is a mix of these two post: Updating to 6.9rc2, install iSCSI plugin But before, create a raid disk to share it via iSCSI (Not sure if it will works in block filesystem) This will be my plan for future. If you try, keeps me updated
  4. It's not a problem for me to update. The process is the same ? - The custom kernel for v6.9 is in this thread ? (I only see 6.8.3 on the first post) - I also need to install nvidia driver after or they are included ? Thanks
  5. Man, you made me fall in love a second time with UnRAID. The only option that was missing (in my opinion) is now available. I tested it on a laptop, with a copy of my real server key and it worked. Only question. On boot, I can see the system is "unable to load nvidia-smi". Is it because the nVidia card is not present or because, by changing the kermel, the driver must be reinstalled ? Thanks again ...
  6. As this thread is very long, maybe i miss one important page; I would like to confirm (or not) if I understand the process to "activate" iSCSI on my UnRAID server. - I Download the Unraid Custom iSCSI builtin v6.8.3. - I replace the files (bzroot, bz***) in this package on my usb stick After, process to configuration of iSCSI Target in CLI Only this ?
  7. Hi, Am I the only one here wanting to use his storage server to be used with VMWare and configure Datastore ? As I can see, the only way to use UnRAID with VMWare is with NFS. And do not seems to be very stable as VMWare lost the disk often. So is there any way to use (with stability and speed) UnRAID for VMWare Datastore ? P.S.: I'm curently in the process of buying 10Gb NIC between UnRAID and my 2 ESXi
  8. Super! Thanks for the information
  9. Hi, I ordered a "Internal 5 Port Non-Raid Sata III 6GB/S M.2 B+M Key Adapter Card", to add more SATA ports to my computer, and add more disk. My question is about the naming of the disk/device. As I can understand, Linux is naming the device (ex:/dev/sdb or /dev/sdd) in relation with the SATA port used. If I change disk of SATA port, this will change ? And does UnRAID will be aware of this change and the Array will continue to work ? Also, second question, depending of the answer to the first one, if I must manage or, manage by myself the dick number in the array, is it possible to configure UnRAID to use by-id (/dev/disk/by-id) to do not have to manage this ? Thanks
  10. Here it is ... Also, if it's possible to tel me what you're looking exactly, for learning ... teletraan-diagnostics-20201009-1600.zip
  11. Parity check is now completed. Seems to be successfull. But, hereis what I can see Disk 4 did not mount automatically. Normal ? Do I need to re-insert it to the array ? (after running mdcmd set invalidslot 4 29 ? ? ?) How can I validate if the process completed successfully ? Or, what are the next steps ? Thanks again
  12. Thanks JorgeB Curently running...
  13. Ok, At this point, I must assume a made a lot of mistake. But, as I can see, I did not lost all my data and I hope being able to recover a good part of them. The question is, what will be the easiest way. Here was the initial setup PDisk 6Tb Parity disk Parity was valid Disk1 3Tb Data disk 2.1Tb of data Disk2 3Tb Data disk 2.1 Tb of data Disk3 3Tb Data disk 1.5 Tb of data Disk4 3Tb Data disk (Unfortunately, I buggued this one and finally cleared it) At this point, I have 5.7 Tb of my data, splitted on 3 drives, and, probably a portion on my parity disk. (As I realy do not understand the protection/parity process of unraid; sometimes seems esoteric. As I can see, 3 of my data disks contain a portion of my data. Parity disk is probably valid. When I try to mount it to verify data on this one, I have the message: root@teletraan:/mnt/test# mount /dev/sdd1 /mnt/test/parity/ mount: /mnt/test/parity: mount(2) system call failed: Structure needs cleaning. Weird, how the parity disk is configured? how it works ? Is there a process to rebuild array from this? Like, ‘Hey, here is 3 disk, with the portion of data, probably another portion on the parity one, rebuild the array with the 5 disk.’ ? A manual job may be to rsync data, from the available disk, to a new single disk, rebuild a fresh array and recopy data to the new array. But what is the advantage to use a system to protect data if we must do all the job manually ? So, 2 questions: - How can I read data from parity disk ? - Does UnRAID have a process to give him disk (the 5), tell him to scan them, and rebuild an array with this ? At this point, please, do not only tell me "you should have done this". (I’m open to know the correct way to recover array when you loose a single disk, but please, do not tells me only this.) From now, If I do not have an answer, a recipe until the end of the day, I will try to recover what I can manually and I will reconsider if UnRAID, despite its advantages, is the correct way to protect my datas. Thanks for your help.
  14. 2 days ago, I tried to configure VM to provide iSCSI to my VM Ware. When I realized that this process will reserve one disk for the iSCSI (and remove it from the array), I stopped the process. At this point, I didn't realized that one of the disk (sdg), was already modified and partitionned like this: sdg 8:96 0 2.7T 0 disk ├─sdg1 8:97 0 8G 0 part └─sdg2 8:98 0 1G 0 part Today, I lost electricity and the server shuted down. (UPS are not forever) I believed that the shutdown caused a problem to my ARRAY. I tried to remove sdg from the array, to re-insert it (an start a parity rebuild). No luck. After reading a bit about the process to rebuild ARRAY. I saw youtube tutorial (from spaceinvader) telling we must clear a disk before interting it to the array. I started the clear disk process (as the disk was already partitionned, the data was already virtually erased) So, now, the clear process is completed at 84%. 3 of the data disk are healthy and the parity disk also. The 4th is waiting the clean to be completed to be reinsterted and rebuild with parity disk. I cannot believe by having 4 of the 5 disks healthy, I cannot recover the array.
  15. Here is the Diagnostic Also, if it can help, here the latest lsblk I ran before starting th clear the disk config. You can see that /sdg has been completely reconfigured by my operation and seems non usable anymore by the RAID volume. And the /sdd is my parity disk Thanks, root@teletraan:~# lsblk NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT loop0 7:0 0 22.7M 1 loop /lib/modules loop1 7:1 0 7.1M 1 loop /lib/firmware loop2 7:2 0 20G 0 loop /var/lib/docker loop3 7:3 0 1G 0 loop /etc/libvirt sda 8:0 1 28.7G 0 disk └─sda1 8:1 1 28.7G 0 part /boot sdb 8:16 0 2.7T 0 disk └─sdb1 8:17 0 2.7T 0 part sdc 8:32 0 2.7T 0 disk └─sdc1 8:33 0 2.7T 0 part sdd 8:48 0 5.5T 0 disk └─sdd1 8:49 0 5.5T 0 part sde 8:64 0 2.7T 0 disk └─sde1 8:65 0 2.7T 0 part sdf 8:80 0 223.6G 0 disk ├─sdf1 8:81 0 1M 0 part └─sdf2 8:82 0 223.6G 0 part sdg 8:96 0 2.7T 0 disk ├─sdg1 8:97 0 8G 0 part └─sdg2 8:98 0 1G 0 part md1 9:1 0 2.7T 0 md /mnt/disk1 md2 9:2 0 2.7T 0 md /mnt/disk2 md3 9:3 0 2.7T 0 md /mnt/disk3 md4 9:4 0 2.7T 0 md teletraan-diagnostics-20201007-2025.zip
  16. Hi, As I tested something (iSCSI from VM) and one of my drive has been whipped (partition was changed) and the disk is now unusable from my Array. I read some post about disk replacement, but couple of things seems ... confusing. Do I realy need to reboot server ? What are the correct way to "replace" disk. (Reinsert the same one, but clean) Curently, I removed the disk from the array and with the tool "Preclear Disk" I'm clearing it. But After .... ?? What is the correct way to reinsert it to my array ? Just beside my parity disk, i can see "All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started". A little scary ... Personally, when the clear disk will be completed, I plan to: - Reassign disk to Array - Check Parity is valid and click start Is it the right process ? ? ? (I don't want to loose data) The notice beside my parity disk scares me a bit (All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started) Many thanks,

  18. I'm curently trying to configure a VM to provide iSCSI from my UnRAID server. I'm following tutorial from Space invader (How to setup ISCSI targets on unRAID using Openfiler vm) Unfortunately, none of my machine outside the UnRAID seems to be able to communicate with my virbr0 interface/subnet. (192.168.122.0/24) I added rout eto this subnet in my router/firewall. The traceroute stop at the UnRAID "external" IP: [admin@omegasupreme]/root:traceroute 192.168.122.198 traceroute to 192.168.122.198 (192.168.122.198), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 192.168.50.10 (192.168.50.10) 0.217 ms 0.156 ms 0.149 ms 2 192.168.50.10 (192.168.50.10) 0.161 ms 0.153 ms 0.201 ms Same from my L2 switch blaster>traceroute 192.168.122.198 Type escape sequence to abort. I missed something ? Thanks
  19. Thanks, binhex for this release. I'm now able to connect to CA servers Question about this image, and others... Is there a possibility to log on my favorites torrent site when the docker start ? Presently, I'm going in console to manually log with a curl command. Is they're a way to automate it ?
  20. HI, I'm curently having issue with UnRAID/VMWare Datastore. I store the drive containing updates of a WSUS server on a NFS share but , many time, my VM shutdown, with Disk error (The NFS on Unraid). I had this issue on many of other VM, (switching disk on local datastore to solve the problem). But as the WSUSContent is not small, I would like to use my NAS to store these information, as not a lot of performance are needed. Are you using UnRAID as a VMWare Datastore ? What is your configuration ? (as iSCSI is not supporter by UnRAID, it seems NFS is my only solution) Thanks,
  21. Hi, Is there possible to configure 2 IP addresses, from 2 different vlan, on the same bond ? (I would like to separate my NFS traffic on specific vlan). I know I can configure both IP/vlan on separate NIC, but ... I've been able to configure a second IP to my bond, via the CLI: #### ifconfig bond0:1 192.168.7.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 up but it will not be permanent and I'm not sure i'ts really working. I can ping it from the UnRAID CLI but I cannot ping it from the switch. Any ideas ?
  22. I understand this, but as a "Flash Backup" burron from the GUI is doing the trick, this (the GUI command) can certainly be automated/scripted ? No ?
  23. Thanks for the link. I already have it and it is very usefull. But, is there a possibility, or a way to know wich one is better. At first look, GeForce almost look to have same performance (except and + with "HEVC B Frame support") and majority of Quadro with "Unrestructed concurent session". But i'm almost sure it's not all. Do we have some test of maximum of concurrent transcode in plex, or other data ? If I have choice between GTX 1070 Ti and GTX 1650 or a Quadro P600, on this link, they looks the same. And I'm almost sure they're not in fact. Thanks,
