  1. same thing here on unRadi 5.0RC10. The drive is supposed to be NTFS but i cannot mount it, since it is GPT...What's the solution here?
  2. No, Windows 7. If there is anything I can test for you guys I would be glad to help resolving the problem :-)
  3. I have attached a syslog.txt file to the original post. Just in case anyone wants to look at it...
  4. Hey Tom I ran into some problems with permissions to acess files on disks and shares using Windows. Joe L. suggested you may want to take a look at it: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25445.0
  5. I have some questions about permissions: I am running 5.0RC10 on the server and Windows 7 on my PC. I have changed the name of the server from Tower to Server, dont be confused :-P I have copied some files to my only disk on the array. I have run the new permissions script to set everything right. I have created a new user called 'moritz' with no password. I have run the "net use * /delete" command in windows and set up a new entry in the credential manager(\\Server and username moritz) [*]When I disable user shares, only my disk1 (and the flash drive) is exported via SMB. Now I want to delete a file on the disk, Windows says I need permission from SERVER\nobody. Alright. I set the credentials to \\Server and username to root. Nothing changed. I suppose root is not a valid user for SMB? I don't know. Set it back to moritz. [*]Enabled user shares and exported the top level folder Movies. Left everything blank, set Security to secure and set user moritz to read/write access. When I now browse to the share via Windows I still cannot delete files. What is even more stange: When I created a new textfile to test I cannot rename it because I need permissions from SERVER\moritz I am realy confused right now syslog.txt
  6. Ok, I have a fresh installation of unraid. The only thing I installed is the ts3server plugin, here are the settings: SERVICE="enable" INSTALLDIR="/usr/local/ts3server" DBPATH="/boot/config/plugins/ts3server" RUNAS="root" set enable Teamspeak to Yes, when I click Apply it startes and says RUNNING on the settings site. But when I restart unraid, the plugin has not started. I have to click apply to start it and all the settings are lost, I get a completely fresh teamspeak server, no channels saved etc. edit: When I hit apply I can read: /etc/rc.d/rc.ts3server enable root /usr/local/ts3server /boot/config/plugins/ts3server Starting TeamSpeak Server: sudo -uroot /usr/local/ts3server/teamspeak3-server_linux-x86/ts3server_startscript.sh start Do I need to apped something of that to the /boot/config/go script? But that would not solve the problem with the lost settings...
  7. This is a new disk, and it appears there was a small region with sectors not correctly initialized. Perhaps there had been an electrical spike that scrambled them? I don't know. But the zeroing phase appears to have had no problems rewriting them, so they are correct now. Why not preclear the disk one more time, to reassure yourself that the disk is fine. I really doubt you will see any further issues with this disk. Ok, i cleared it one more time, I guess everything is allright now? (syslog attached) syslog.txt
  8. Anyway I can access the flash drive from within unRaid when its running? I tried to mount it manually but that did not work. In case the plugin is preventing unraid from starting properly I only need to remove one plg file that is causing the problems and reboot... unRaid is installed on a hdd, not that easy to remove and stick into another computer, thats why I ask...
  9. I started up my server and the webgui was not reachable, neither was unmenu or the windows share for the ip I still can connect via telnet. Here is what I did: Now I can reach the webGUI but it is without the simple features look, just plain unraidGUI. Windows share is up as well, with /flash subfolder in it like it used to be. BUT: The /flash folder is empty. There is only a file called "config" which has "TDB file" as first letters same when trying to access flash drive via (newly started) webGUI or telnet... I can still reboot and powerdown unraid and it boots back up (without webgui of course) Do you guys have an idea what might be wrong? I have attached the syslog... edit: Could it be bad to manually set the data directory of sabnzbd and sickbeard to /mnt/disk1/plugins/sickbeard via the config file /boot/config/plugin/sickbeard/sickbeard.cfg even if that does not exist (array does not start on boot, because i have not set it up yet) syslog.txt
  10. ahh okay, thank you! Do I have to set anything special to START them on every boot, I don't feel this is happening as default...
  11. Ok, I see that most people set their 'install directory' to the cache drive. I don't have a cache drive can I simply set this to some place on the /flash drive? i.e. /boot/install/ or something like that? What is even stored in that directory?
  12. I just finished preclearing my 3 TB drive but I am a little concerned because I have been told that 'reallocation' is a bad thing. I attached my syslog, but here is the part that made me thinking: Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: ============================================================================ (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: ** Changed attributes in files: /tmp/smart_start_sdb /tmp/smart_finish_sdb (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: ATTRIBUTE NEW_VAL OLD_VAL FAILURE_THRESHOLD STATUS RAW_VALUE (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: Raw_Read_Error_Rate = 120 117 6 ok 241855832 (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: Spin_Retry_Count = 100 100 97 near_thresh 0 (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: End-to-End_Error = 100 100 99 near_thresh 0 (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: Reported_Uncorrect = 64 100 0 ok 36 (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: Airflow_Temperature_Cel = 64 71 45 near_thresh 36 (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: Temperature_Celsius = 36 29 0 ok 36 (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: No SMART attributes are FAILING_NOW (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: (Misc) Jan 13 00:15:55 Tower preclear_disk-diff[11408]: 0 sectors were pending re-allocation before the start of the preclear. 13. If I install a plugin via the unmenu package manager and want it to stay installed everytime I boot, do I need to enable "reinstall on every boot"? I experienced that the plugins that were 'installed' prior to a reboot, remain 'downloaded but not installed' after boot... Most user-plugins come with a plg file that I put in /boot/config/plugins and install via installplg /boot/..... After that I have a nice new category in the unraid settings menu, which I like. The thing is: every time I boot the machine the plugin says NOT INSTALLED. What do I have to do, to have them up and running every time I boot up unraid? If you will to 'reinstall them on every boot'. (I have to say though, that as a windows user I am quite confused about this, as this would totally crash it to install some things on every boot. But i think unraid starts in kind of a "clean" state and then loads all plugins?!) What do I need to set as 'install directory', or even 'data directory'? I am talking about influencers sabnzbd, sickbeard, couchpotatov2 and also dropbox, tvheadend and TeamspeakServer
  14. Hi there, can I fresh up unRaid and start with a clean version of it just by deleting everything on the 'flash' network share and putting the files from the zip file in there? Would the drive still be bootable? I do not mind loosing settings or stuff, I have just precleared my drives and wanted to start with a new, clean version of unraid. :-) Thanks
  15. The strange thing is, it was still writing zeros to the disk, even after the power losses. slowly but it was. Nevermind, I stopped it, changed the cable and starting again soon. I hope it works. Maybe I should realy invest in a new supply, just saw that the power supply only has 250W, a bit to poor if I want to run 4 or more drivers, I suppose? Thank you guys again for your continuous, professional and especially warm support! You truely are gold for this community! :-)
  16. I tend to believe that this is not the problem. I have 3 disks installed, two IDE and 1 SATA, no DVD drives or something like that...
  17. No I have definitely not power cycled the disk 211 times. I put it in and started preclearing, maybe after one reboot. So you're saying that the disk looses power and gains it back, that was the sound I was hearing, I suppose... But why is the preclear script continuing? You said it stops, if the power is disconnected.

  19. Hi there, I was starting to preclear my 3TB drive yesturday evening. This morning the script started to wirte the zeros. Half an hour ago, I noticed stange sounds from the Server: HDD is spinning up, than a strange sound (like the HDD head is parked or something), than spinning up.... every 3-5 seconds. Looked at the syslog, there were thousands of: massages. I have attached the full syslog so you can see what happened before. In unRaid under MyMain, the device is listed as sdc (was sdb before) and RAW and nothing going on where it said "Zeroing 65%...", although i can still see the script working via telnet, but it does copy 2 MB zeros every refresh(5 seconds), discontinued by periods of time where it writes nothing... (Had 60 MB/s before) Can it be that there is a problem with the power cable? can I remove it and plug another one in, does the script continue at the same point where it left of? SYSLOG: http://pastebin.com/aE2KKyM4
  20. B! Counting memory size, showing IDE master slave configuration and stuff. Just a little picture at the to right corner. I think it's an old award bios, no pretty pictures 10 years ago :-P Because sometimes I want to see what is realy going on on the machine. Like when I tried to install gcc package via unmenu und could not reach the web interface anymore. (I think its because I only have 512MB RAM) Putty cannot connect in that state either...
  21. Thank you for that explanation Frank! I have now connected the Server directly to the Screen via VGA. When I boot it up, I see the BIOS screen loading (it did not do this before, so wohoo :-) ) But then the TV starts to refresh the screen every second, showing the "input sign" [PC In VGA] in the corner and I still get no picture :-( so close...
  22. The Receiver can convert non digital VGA signals to HDMI, Windows XP worked on the same machine. Sad that it cannot do that with unraid video mode :-P Thanks Frank, I think I will stick with your suggestion... It just would have been nice to have it all on one box and just switch the inputs to see what its doing
  23. OK, the problem is: I have my server near my HTPC which is connected to a AV Receiver then to the TV via HDMI. I thought it would be great to quickly switch the receiver to PC input and see whats going on on the server via the TV. HTPC - [HDMI] - AV-Receiver |------> [HDMI] TV Unraid - [VGA] - AV-Receiver But that did not work. I tried all kinds of resolutions with VGA on windows and 800x600 worked for example. It also does not show the bios loading screen... Can I do anything about that, maybe change some graphic settings in unraid to force a resolution?
