I have 5 network interfaces . The first four are eth0 to eth3 all on the same physical four port card. the next card is my two port fiber card that serve eth4 and eth5. The only physical cable I use is the fiber port on eth4 that goes to my switch. I have the fiber port configured and everything is connected and working. Do I need to do anything to eth0 ? I think Unraid depends on etc0 and it can not be disabled so that is what causes the eth port 0 down alarm that seemingly can't be turned off ? Is that because it is the only port where DNS can be defined ?

Than you for all your help. I will take these things into consideration in my next build. I have been toying with the idea of getting a 4U Dell server because this 2U was somewhat limited on the backplane and I wanted something that could support more graphic cards for AI . When I build the next system I guess I will go with BTFRS so that I have protection. I already have a second NAS I back up to but obviously I didnt trigger a backup when I should have. :( Thanks again .

That is so strange... I don't understand why I didn't see any issues. This was a production system and ran with zero issues for a LONG LONG time. The array now says it is running in unprotected mode which concerns me. I wont add parity back but dont that leave the array unprotected ? I consider this somewhat fixed . Thank you for your help.

Good News / Maybe bad news ???? This server has been up for a while and I could not remember the file system .... I did what you said, and the array started BUT it looks like it is ZFS ........ Even as ZFS, I can see my data and at least do a backup on my critical stuff I think ? Is there any risk as is ? this array went down gracefully, before the failure. The power down was due to the utility company working on the power to our subdivision. I gracefully shut the server down before they cut the power. The server had been up for so long, I think there was some underlying corruption on the USB boot drive. SO ...... I think my next step unless there is any objection is to recreate the SMB shares to my NAS and get current with my data back ups. After that I can start to rebuild my docker apps ? Do you see any issues with any of that before I bring the parity drive back into the mix ?

Can I assume that Dev 2 slot 1 is my Parity Drive Slot 2 is blank Dev 8 use to be my SSD Pool I believe Dev 5 was never used, its internal to the system board. Is there a way to tell how Dev 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 use to be ordered ? Am I way off base in having any hope in putting this array back together ?

I had a system failure that completely put the USB drive in a 100% unusable state. I could not recover any of the config folder but was able to reflash the drive. Im trying to understand if I can recover my array. This is a DL380 and I did have a parity drive. can I rebuild this or is it a total loss ? The array most likely has no issues itself but I dont know the order of the drives to put it back correctly , is there a way to see the drive labels ? I'm trying to move slowly so I dont make the issue any worse that it is.

Can someone explain Plex dont offload all the work to the GPU. Transcoding only kicks in on people who open a plex session in a web page.. I thought the GPU was there to offload all the work from being dumped on the CPU. I have an older gen9 DL380, with a P2000 and the idea was to put the work load on the P2000. Will the P2000 do HEVC ? is it even worth trying that ? I feel like this is by design because like I said, some sessions do transcode and I can see work being done for plex on the P200, just not all sessions.

I seem to have an "interesting to me" issue that I haven't had prior to upgrading to unraid 7. Before 7 , I would edit the VM and check the box that showed my external USB hard drive, fire up the VM and it would show up in my VM. Yesterday for the first time, I checked the box that showed my USB hard drive, started the VM, went to connect via my RDP client and it was a no go.... The strange thing, I could VNC to the Unrade server IP:port number of the VM and actuall log in and see that the VM was up and running. Interestingly enough the USB drive was not showing up. So, I stopped the VM, un checked the USB hard drive, and started the VM... This time the RDP connection worked exactly like it was suppose to. Is there added steps to add USB devices, what chenged. It seems the VM has more options now. Has anyone else had this issue?

Update: This was the solution. Everything back online and Fix Common Problems no longer shows the issue and everything is back on the cache drive and running great. Thank you for the assistance.

Well , for what its worth... Mover is greyed out so I assume it is running and may take a long while to move stuff. I'll keep an eye on it to see how it goes. Thanks for the pointer...

I think I messed something up on one of my main unraid servers. I noticed that my appdata was unprotected so I thought I would fix it by designating the array as my secondary storage. When I did that I started to get the warning message in my fix common problems scan when I ran that a few days later. On top of that, the appdata folder on my cache drive still showed "unprotected" so I decided to revert the appdata config back to only the cache drive. Here is the problem. I still have the folder on the array.. What do I do with that data on the array ? Is there any active data in there after I switched back to the cache drive ? Im sure others have done this before, do I use unballance to move it somewhere ?

Is there a proper way to set a path for RAG documents to be loaded into a model ? I would like to store all the RAG files on my array vs my appsdata which is on my limited cache drive. ideally, I would like all my different models stored on the array as well as opposed to the config location which is on the cache pool ?

I had this issue and it came down to where the appdata location was. It needs a big place to store the models .. The container needs work in my opinion.

I seem to have an issue that is "player related" ? I don't understand but unless I set the player to "auto" it will not use the GPU and goes to direct play. It defaults to "original" and seems to use the GPU .. I would like it to always use the GPU. Is this normal ? Is there something im not understanding ?
