  1. Hi all.  I just noticed this, so I am not sure how long it's been going on with my server.  But nothing is writing to my cache drive anymore.  When I copy files over to the array, they do not first get copied onto the cache drive.  None of my settings have changed.  Is this a bug in 6.2.1?

  2. Hello,

    I'm trying to install his docker. It looks like it installs OK but when I try to launch it I get this message.

    Not sure where I need to go from here.

    Here is what is in the log for the docker.

    Did you remote desktop into mythtv and set it up first?  I think I ran across this problem too when I did mine.  When you remote in and set it up, it should be fine if I am remembering correction.  You want to remote to:  your ip:3389  if you used the default device mappings.

  3. I'm currently considering two options.  1.  Let the 8tb drive rebuild itself (another 20 hours). Then take the old disk install it on a windows pc and copy all of the contents.  Or 2.  Wait until the rebuild and place it back in the array and see if I can copy the contents without mounting it to the array.  What would happen if I stopped the rebuild on the 8tb drive and just put the 2tb drive back in there?  What do you think?

  4. Hi all.  I just replaced a 2tb drive with an 8.  precleared it, assigned it to the 2tb drive slot, started rebuild, then realized I didn't format it.  So I formatted and then started the rebuild.  It's still rebuilding, but I think I lost all of the info from that drive.  Now of course I want to put that old drive back in to restore that data.  I'd like to make sure I'm doing that correctly.  Any advice?

    Thank you!

    I'm inclined to think something is loose or defective. Cable my gut tells me.

    If be interested to see your unRAID diagnostics though. Please post them ...

    Remember to hit the privatise button if you want to remove potentially sensitive data from the logs.

    I reseated the cables and so far so good!  Port 5 was the cache drive so that could explain the mover issues.  Thank you!

  6. Hi all.  I have a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P that is approximately 5 years old.  Lately  I will periodically get an error that it can not detect port 5 in the bios during the reboot.  It will time out and it will then not boot UnRaid.  If I reboot enough time, it will then boot and everything will run normally.  The last few months I've noticed that if I copy a lot of data to the cache drive, Unraid will lock up during the night about the time it would be running the moving script.  This would rarely happen, but I am now questioning whether the two instances are related?

    I am wondering if this motherboard could be going bad or could it be another issue?  I tried the longshot of replacing the battery on the motherboard, but to no avail.  The error has persisted.

    Thank You!

  7. Actually if you install your VM on an SSD, you can achieve very near bare metal results. I have a W10 vm installed on unRAID 6.18 and I am passing through an Nvidia GTX 960 and I can play Star Wars Battlefront which was released in 2015 perfectly, no hiccups, slow downs, nothing, smooth as butter. I have the vm configured with two CPU cores of my 8 core processor and 4GB of RAM, it works just fine and running the VM on its own dedicated SSD I think makes all the difference.

    I agree.  I may put a VM off for awhile until I can do a hardware upgrade. I think it would overly stress my hardware running all of my current dockers plus a VM.  Thanks for all the input!

    You bring up a good point.  I do have a SSD cache drive currently.  I currently have a 3 core AMD processor and 8GB Ram.  I recently upgraded the ram because my dockers were using up to 80% of my former 4GB ram.  Should I probably look into a hardware upgrade if I went to a VM?

  9. Hi all.  I am basically asking what the titles says.  I am currently configuring a HTPC with windows 10 and Kodi using a SSD.  I will be running emulators on it as well.  Now that I am about done I am reading about virtual machines with Unraid and wondering if I should have went that route?  I've read plenty of positives about virtual machines.  Are there any negatives or should I get started on building a VM too :)

  10. The initial scan seems to hang after awhile.  I restart the server and it will go another few percent and then stall again.  Does it normally take a long time?  It's been ~4 hours now and is only 45% with multiple restarts.  I don't think I have a very large library compared to most on here.

    Edit:  Upon further study, I removed my Movies folder from the scan and all TV shows and Music scanned in perfectly.  However, the scan stalls when trying to scan in my movies.

    After multiple restarts of the server, it finally completed the scan.  Hopefully it will be ok in the future??

  12. I have been having a problem with mythtv slowly eating up my docker space.  I can delete the docker and container, reinstall and be fine, but I'd like to find out the root of the problem.  My volume mappings include:

    /home/mythtv  ->    /mnt/cache/appdata/mythtv/home

    /db        ->          /mnt/cache/appdata/mythtv/db

    /var/lib/mythtv    ->  /mnt/cache/appdata/mythtv/data

    As a side note, I noticed that I slowly run out of space whether I have watched tv or not.  Is there a directory that is creating some sort of log file?  Could it be the guide filling it up?

    Is there a directory I'm missing?  I couldn't seem to find an answer in my search.  Thank You!

    I've located the file that is gradually growing.  It is in folder Var->log->mysql  It is a mariadb-bin file and I can almost watch it grow in size.  Will this gradually level out?  Should I do a volume mapping to my cache?  Is this even supposed to be happening?

    Thank you.

    You can try this: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40937.msg475225#msg475225

    Thank you for this.  However, I don't think it is a log file issue.  That command issued a return of just 2.8MB.  I think this might be more of an issue with the mythtv database growing constantly.

  15. Hi all. I just installed one of those new samsung 8tb disk in my system.  I am currently using the preclear plugin.  It has been running fine for about 24 hours, but now my system in unresponsive.  I really hate to reboot the server and start the preclear over again.  Is there any other option?

    Thank You.

    ps-By unresposive, I mean that I can't access the webgui nor can I access any shares from any of my pcs.  Everything just times out.
