  1. Finally just figured things out after playing with it for 2 nights for any noob outhere, I hope this help This is for the binhex version only but start with creating the share you want syncthing to sync to then while grabbing the container from the app store, set the host path to that exact share or folder within that share that you just created pull the container log in to syncthing web gui, follow the prompts change password etc, connect the device by clicking on add a device, I did this in my host machine you should end up with connection unused on both devices then share the folder from your host device to the server, for the holder path, use that orange text that is writing underneath your host path, where at the beginning you mapped the share or share folder you created specifically for syncthing. and thats it
  2. I ITS 2022 and this problem is still very much alive. My nsmb.conf has the changes you suggested, and i'm also adding my complete samba extra on unraid at the bottom of this post. I don't know that what else to do other than completely moving on to something else. HERE IS THE USE CASE: Picture this , pro wedding photographer here, so i upload anywhere from 5000-12000 raw files depending on the wedding into subfolder categories by year and date to the server (chenbro nr12000 with cache) here is the problem, MAC OS FINDER basically stops, mac os becomes unresponsive when I access the shares containing the raw files. Why is that, now I understand its not entirely an unraid problem but I wish they would come up with a fix even if they charged for it. I did find a workaround by using file browser pro, but now, the server disconnects randomly when upload or download using file browser pro. 3. GOOD QUESTION, SO will this help browsing large raw files on mac os client?
  4. Hi @am3ncorn3r and @jonp I wanted to know if this issue was ever resolved. I'm running into same problems where finder just says loading but never shows anything until the server automatically disconnects after a long time. it's quite frustrating because lightroom won't load the previews from files when the server is connected and I cant link lightroom to new folders on the server because it just wont load. rlabs-archival-diagnostics-20211109-1820.zip what else can I do. I am running 10gb on catalina Using samba , nfs shares says I dont have permissions even if the shares are public ive reset permissions like a million times. 5. Hi all, I updated my unraid box the other day, and ever since the update, accessing my files on mac os is a nightmare. In finder, I see the folders but the files inside the folder wont show, only a spinner with the words loading next to it. I see no disk being read or accessed in the unraid guy but in the active streams plugin, I see the files being scanned (sort of) but nothing in finder for hours. its quite frustrating and I'm not sure why this is. I have attached a diagnostic. but I'm running a chenbro nr12000 intel xeon 1270v2 32 gb ram 10 gb solar flare nic Mikrotik switch rlabs-archival-diagnostics-20211109-1820.zip
  6. OK! im really hoping the mods can see this. Basically, im using unraid as a file server, With the ability to edit on the go via syncthing and carbon copy cloner. and im using a NR12000 with a xeon 1270v2 32gb ram First I would love to see plugin like unassigned devices and a file manager like krusader be built into unraid While I understand unraid is used as a vm manager and a bunch of other things, at its core unraid is an alternative to raid meaning functions to Storing files should be a big concern. hence why security and file management is important. I mean I understand that this wont mean much if you know command line but for those of us who uses gui then it would make a lot of sense to have unassigned devices and a working version of krusader as part of unraid, afterall it is paid software. rant over. ok so I was using krusader to move raw files from my unassigned device to the array and its a night mare, krusader does not move files inside of folders that are inside of folders making it virtually useless. So as a photographer who uses unraid here what I say. 1: if you've been using a compilation of disk, an Unraid server is great to store files. which can then be backed up to backblaze for example. 2: unraid allows you to store the files on the server while you edit the smart previews in lightroom which will then sync are back on the local network and or unless if manage to make a connection outside of the local network. 3: dont expect fast transfer speed from your main pc to the server. At best 50mbs is about the most you'll have even with a cache drive and a 10gbe network. that is due to the nature of the myriad of files we are transferring instead of a 5 gig movie, 4: If you're using unassigned devices and krusader, keep in mind that its best to transfer each folder separately because after moving an entire 8tb drive to the array, I found out that although it says the copy was completed, it only copied over 5.5 tb instead of the 8tb and umpon investigating, the content inside the folder within the main folder was not copied. quire frustrating. 5: you hear smr isnt great of unraid and while I wouldn't use an smr drive for parity, its ok for cold storage. rewrites to the drive will be slow but if your accessing it once or twice a month, its ok. 6: unraid it self is solid 7: Community is good, most of them are quite helpful and if you run into an issue, most likely someone else has been there and can help you through it Im not a pro at unraid but so take everything with a grain of salt. Of course there are other ways and other maybe better plugins you can use so if anyone knows of a better way to get faster transfer speed of raw files over the network please let me know.
  7. I did, I should say this, So my server has a 10gb nic connected to a 10gbe switch which my mac is currently connected to. Now, the mac is on a 2.5gb nic ( it will soon be upgraded to a 10bge nic )(waiting on parts to arrive) running iperf from the mac to the server is 2.65gbs (which I can live with) translating this to aja or blackmagic speed test to 120-140MB write (which im ok with for now) running iperf from the server to the mac the speed is 232 mbs which translate to 20MB read from the server which I dont get why I already set mtu to 9000 and nothing, ive tried about all the smb tweaks I can think of (except for link aggregation)
  8. HI, Can anyone here help us out. Writing to the unraid raid array is super fast, 2.5g but reading from it is abysmal, like 20-30 mb/s How can I overcome this? what can I do to make reading from the array as fast as the drive speed which should be 120mb/s Thanks a ton
  9. Hi, Very much New to unraid and DIY nas as a whole. I am a noob and I need some help. With that said, I did manage to set up the server So far I have 3 (4TB) drives, 1 (512bg) NVME ssd cache running on an old amd A10 (quad core) CPU. at some point, I know I will need 10gb cards and switch and the reason I didnt get them yet is because my internet is foolish. (ps) I'm not running unraid as a backup. I am a photographer and i also use lightroom. I would love some help to accomplish the following. 1: set up is a network drive that I can edit from, 2: still be able to access and edit when I'm outside of my local network. 3: which cloud client will allow to mount my server as a mapped drive over the internet.? so for those curious as to the catalog. I plan on using syncthing to since the LR catalog between my desktop and laptop thus, id love to open my laptop when I travel and edit. Any help would be much appreciate it. thanks in advance
