  1. Thanks for the helpful comment, trurl, I'll get started on the procedure tomorrow. I do have SATA slots free and will indeed reuse the old parity drives as data drives, so I'll go with your suggestion, leave them in the SATA port I have put them in and just reassign one by one, starting with each new parity drive and then add the old parity drives as data drives.
  2. Sorry to resurrect this thread but I have a couple of additional questions regarding a similar procedure I want to perform. Here's my current setup: double parity, all drives are 8TB. I now have purchased two new 18TB drives and want to use those as new parity drives and subsequently reuse the old 8TB parity drives as data drives. Here's what I was thinking of doing: 1. Uncheck autostart for all dockers, stop all dockers 2. Stop array and power down system 3. Remove old parity drive 1 from SATA port 4. Install new 18TB drive on the same SATA port as the old parity 1 drive which I have just removed 5. Boot system 6. Run pre-clear on new 18TB drive (to stress test as this is a brand new drive) > is this step necessary? 7. Assign new drive as parity 8. Start array and let it rebuild parity 9. When parity is rebuilt, stop the array 10. Power down system 11. Add old parity drive to a free SATA port 12. Boot system and assign old parity drive as a data drive > this will automatically clear all existing data on the disk, correct? 13. Start array 14. Repeat same procedure but for parity drive 2 The questions I have are: is a preclear using the plugin recommend / possible seeing as the 18TB drives are brand new? (see red text step 6) during any time, do I need to keep all dockers turned off or can I turn some of them on? I'm thinking of turning the PLEX docker on while rebuilding the parity so I can keep watching, for example. I would only run dockers that read from the array but don't write, such as PLEX. Would this be an issue? By replacing one parity drive at a time, I believe my array will still be protected since at any time I will have an fully built and active parity drive. So in worst case, if a random drive happens to fail during this procedure, I would still be protected, correct? Is this a good way in general to go about it or are there other (better) ways? Ideally, I would like to keep the parity drives seated on the same SATA as the former ones were and keep at least one parity drive intact at all times Thank you very much for any helpful insights you can give me!
  3. I was eventually able to solve this, the problem was twofold: - Komga : somehow was locked to the wrong port, had to change that so there was no longer a conflict with Binhex Qbittorrentvpn. I had to change the port manually in the link when clicking the icon - Qbittorrentvpn : problem was it no longer was able to connect with any of NordVPNs servers, so I was able to solve that by not using the VPN option but instead in the qbittorrent settings themselves add the NordVPN proxy server Not ideal but it did solve my issues ...
  4. I currently have 5 dockers running on my Unraid Version: 6.12.1 and all of a sudden, without having changed anything on Unraid or on my router, two of those dockers have become inaccessible on local WAN on the web browser: This site can’t be reached xxx.xxx.xx.xxx refused to connect. Try: Checking the connection Checking the proxy and the firewall ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED SSL is disabled in Unraid All dockers and Unraid are up to date Restarting the entire server didn't resolve the issue. Any idea how I can begin finding the solution to this? The affected dockers are: - binhex-qbittorrentvpn - Komga Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide. Kinda scratching my head with this one ...
  5. Just want to take the time to give a huge thank you to Squid. Had a container that didn't update anymore and the plugin immediately fixed it.
  6. Thank you all for your replies, I'm sorry I wasn't very clear regarding the latter points. I'll try to rephrase, hopefully better this time: Once a download is done in the DOWNLOADS share, I move the files from there to the share where they belong (for example: REFERENCE WORKS share) using Krusader. That way they are attributed to the correct Share but are physically still on the DOWNLOADS share. Once that is done, I invoke the MOVER which then moves the files physically to the correct share. As stated by Itimpi correctly, I have all those receiving shares set to "Cache Only" and usually I let the MOVER work during the night indeed when the server is not being used for anything else.
  7. Hi all, First of all, just want to say that everything works perfectly on my Unraid but I'm just looking to confirm whether my setup is the best possible way or if there are better options available. Simple and short: 1. I run two dockers that need a 'downloads' share: binhex-qbittorrentvpn and JDownloader2 2. My goal is to prevent the Array from constantly writing to both parity disks, in order to prevent unnecessary wear and tear My setup: 1. created a Share 'Downloads' with a single drive assigned to it, namely disk 8 (8TB disk) 2. created a pool called 'Downloader' with a single drive assigned to it, also a 8TB disk. This disk is not part of the Array, only assigned to the pool 3. set my 'Downloads' share to 'Use Cache Pool Only' and set the 'Downloader' pool as the cache. If I understand correctly, this means that everything that is downloaded will stay on the 'Downloader' pool and will not be constantly moved to the Array and written to the parity disks 4. Once a download is done and can definitively be moved, I move the file to the correct location (Share) on the Array with Krusader 5. Only then do I launch the MOVER so the files are moved from the 'Downloader' pool to the Array, in the correct share, in one go Is my setup correct for what I'm aiming to do? Or is there a better way? Any feedback would be very appreciated, thanks a lot!
  8. Ah, haven't installed or used radarr/sonarr yet. Will look into that. Thank you for your help! I think I saw a youtube video on that topic by SpaceInvader One ...
  9. I have a problem with my shares not behaving as intended and I think it's because I've missed something or didn't configure it well. Here's the general setup: SHARES: MOVIES : disks 1-4 TV SERIES : disks 5-7 DOWNLOADS : disk 8 The only share using a cache pool, is disk 8. The others are not using cache pool Now, I have set up Binhex Qbittorrent, which downloads to the cache pool, and when the mover runs, it transfers the finished downloads from the CACHE to DISK 8 (DOWNLOADS Share). So far, so good. However, when I then use Krusader to move those files into the MOVIES and TV SERIES shares, instead Unraid creates those same folders into disk 8, instead of moving the files. I think the reason is because Unraid will not move files around that are on the array, but will instead creates subdirs on the disk they already reside on. Now, I can fix this by using unBALANCE, but that's just additional hassle. Is there any way to set things up so after downloads are completed in the CACHE, I can move them onto the disks I want them to go, namely: disks 1-4 for MOVIES and disks 5-7 for TV SERIES? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
  10. Thanks for the heads up, I thought the auto parity check included auto correction. I'll run another check with correcting 'Write corrections to parity'. Thanks for the helpful advice!
  11. So the electric current was suddenly shut off, causing my server to be interrupted. After the electricity was restored, I rebooted the server and let it do it's Parity check The result is : Sync errors corrected: 4 Is there any other action I should undertake? I think these 4 sync errors are plausible since there was data being written to the array during the shutdown, which probably caused the errors. The previous, normally scheduled parity check was less than a month ago and concluded without any errors, so I can only assume it's the sudden electrical failure that caused these errors. Any other check or action I should undertake? Or am I good to go? Thanks in advance for your help.
  12. Silly me, the Throttle was still on, didn't notice it. So DL goes fine now with speeds of over 1Mb/s, UL seems to go a bit slow. Maybe I should try a different OVPN file from my VPN provider (Nord VPN)? They have multiple servers for my country, both FTP and UDP. For now I'm using an FTP one. Can I add multiple OVPN files and switch between them?
  13. Thanks a lot! Got everything set up and running now. Only thing is, DL speed is extremely slow (3kb/s) and upload is 0 kbs. So I'm guessing somewhere, something isn't configured just right. I'll keep looking see if I can find what it is. But thanks again for helping me this far!
  14. Still pretty new to Unraid, tried to install and run this docker but it won't start. Here's what I did: changed ports for webUI to 8585 because 8080 is crowded. Set VPN_PROV to Custom since I'm not using PIA Entered my USER ID and PASSWORD for the VPN in the correct fields (Container Variable: VPN_USER and Container Variable: VPN_PASS) Changed value for Container Path: /data to the Share I'm using to store my downloads Left all the rest to initial settings, Installed the docker, install went OK Then I try to click it and run START but it won't run. I know I need to add my VPN's OpenVPN files lateron but normally the docker should already be able to run, no? Any idea what could cause this? Sorry for being such a noob
  15. I also got the following error message I got it on two drives, both brand new WD HDC 8TB server drives. Any chance this is the same bug as mentioned before and the drives are actually safe to use? I've attached the log in case that helps. Thank you very much for any insight you might have on this. preclear_disk_VDKYV45K_4490.txt
  16. Hello, Just a look at your build and it's very close to what I have in mind. I've ordered the same rack and was still in doubt regarding the inner parts. My main goal would be to use the server for: - plex (mainly) - filesever so I can store my pictures, etc while on the road. - security camera's (will add that on lateron) I think your build would allow me to do that. Any feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Are you getting good results with it so far?
