Unraid OS version 6.8.1 available
No joy on that. make_bootable.bat ran normally, looks like it worked, but it's going into exactly the same loop. Based on this page: https://wiki.unraid.net/Files_on_v6_boot_drive, I can't see anything obvious I'm missing, the files in syslinux look normal. menu.c32 is there. I've not no clue at this point. Unraid OS version 6.8.1 available
Okay, so...in spite of the BIOS boot menu having the USB stick as the first choice, it seems to be dropping all the way down to PXE boot which is where that message is coming from. So it looks like the upgrade somehow made the USB stick unbootable. Is there a standard way to recover from that?

Well, that's disappointing. I just pulled the USB stick and and ran chkdsk on it from my Windows 10 laptop; chkdsk reports it is just fine.

Upgrade seemed to work, but... system won't boot, it's in a loop boot: Undef symbol FAIL: openConsole Failed to load libutil.c32 Failed to load COM32 file menu.c32 boot: ... I'm going to go with the assumption that my USB stick is corrupt and hope to recover. But...any suggestions or insights are appreciated.

The previous version does recognize this format. Pulling the same file up in the web GUI and switching to the audio list tab, it shows up in the list.

The container claims to be up-to-date, so yes the latest. This is the first rip I've run into that had a failure like this. I only discovered it when trying to play back the result and I had no sound, so I went looking for was was different. I did know that the Fedora version was slightly newer, so I gave it a try. So, I really don't have much else to give you. I only have the GUI install on Fedora; I could give you a list of libraries from ldd, but I don't know how to compare that with what's in the container.

The docker image using HandBrake 1.07 doesn't recognize the pcm_16le encoded audio track on one of my rips. The Fedora 27 version, which has a dated version (nightly build?) of 20180111143138-9bd2b8e-unknown (x86_64) does. I'm not sure if this is a HandBrake issue or a missing library in the docker image.

Below is the relevant part of presets.json. In spite of the FileFormat av_mkv setting, the log shows that it's selecting an MPEG-4 container. Okay, I'm looking at the log/hb/conversion.log. It's deciding on an mp4 container, but it is seeing the custom preset. It's just not honoring that one bit. I don't know why. I'm going to look at the config a bit more.
-
[Support] Djoss - HandBrake
Nope. I logged into the unraid server so I could cut-and-paste directly from the config file. "Custom Fast 1080p30". And I see that being passed into the docker client when it starts up. In spite of that, the CLI version is producing an mp4 container instead of an mkv and it's burning the subtitles into the video
-
[Support] Djoss - HandBrake
Hmmm. I used the web interface/GUI to make my changes. The main change was to switch to mkv format, turn off burning subtitles and set up to select all subtitles as pass-through. The batch job is still burning them in. In fact, a restart doesn't help either. The name I have in the config is "Custom Fast 1080p30". That's the name I saved it under using the web GUI. And I clicked on save it as the default. But the automatic CLI transcode acts like it doesn't see it and is just using the old settings. I get one subtitle, burned in. I'm not clear where I need to do the actual configuration change to make it visible to the CLI version.
-
[Support] Djoss - HandBrake
Hmmm. I have a custom configuration I use for the automated transcoding. If I change that via the web/gui interface to ghb, will the automated queue pick it up on the next transcode or do I have to restart the docker? There's probably someplace I should be able to tell for myself, let me poke at some logs...

Yes, everything is working fine now. Well apart from me trying to figure out what setting to use, but I've always had that problem. I wish HandBrake was a little better on figuring out crop sizes. Ah, stupid configuration problem. I cut-and-pasted the SAME_AS_SRC and end up with "SAME_AS_SRC ".
-
[Support] Djoss - HandBrake
Okay, all seems to be working well at this point and I'm a happy camper. Well, mostly :-) I've set SAME_AS_SRC for the output folder. My input folder is "Video/watch/Tangled (2010)". Yeah, spaces and parenthesis. But this is the format that Plex wants so I was setting up so I could just move the entire output folder over once the transcoding was complete. The output folder is "Video/output/SONR3Q~7". Not quite what I was expecting.... Names with spaces and special characters works fine with handbrake on Ubuntu, but I really wanted to move it over to my unraid server which has (a lot) more horsepower.

Ugh. Turns out something was wrong with my USB stick. I've recovered, but it was painful. There were some other hints, but the Main and Dashboard pages were showing everything to be happy.

[Support] Djoss - HandBrake
Hmm, this is weird. I'm getting this when trying to install the docker image. No idea why. The docker seems to install, but it really messes up the unraid screens (lots of issues parsing the other templates). The directory is wide open, so I'm not sure why this is failing, but the config file is not there when the install finishes.

Ah, okay. So the default for this docker is a poor choice and I should have paid more attention to the configuration.

I must not have been clear. I know where it is. I know where it was. It was in /mnt/cache/appdata/gitlab-ce. But that appears to have been wiped and recreated after the reboot. My question is, is this the normal place for gitlab-ce to put it's data, rather than /mnt/user/appdata where everything else seems to put their data.

[Support] GitLab-CE
Oh joy, I had to reboot my unraid server to move some hardware. I just pulled a video card for use elsewhere and shut down the VM that had been using it, no big deal. A few days ago, I bit the bullet and just started over from scratch, importing my project brand new. Before the reboot, I had the gitlab web page open on the server, so I know all was working, I could browse my project, etc. Then, when everything came back up, gitlab-ce wasn't running even though it was set to autostart. So I started it. And then...I get prompted to set a new password. Very odd. I clicked on the part about having an account, but it wouldn't let me leave the page. So I went ahead and set a new password for the root account. Sure enough, I've got a 100% clean install. My project is gone. It's really, really clean. gitlab seems to want to put it's data in /mnt/cache/appdata/gitlab-ce. Is that right? I don't have an actual cache drive, I don't know why it wants to put it's data in that directory. @saarg, your comment makes it seem like that's the expected place. That is where it was before the reboot, I recall thinking it was odd, but just went with it and tweaked my config to get mail working in gitlab.rb. Now, I'm not sure what the point is. If a reboot or update is going to wipe my data it's not much of a revision control package.... Any clue on what I'm doing wrong on this would be appreciated. There is a gitlab-ce update ready...wondering if I should install it to see if I get reset once again.

[Support] GitLab-CE
@saarg, I don't have a cache drive, never had. @opticon, I didn't think to look at my CA backup...alas, I realized I didn't configure dated backups and whatever might have been recoverable is gone. I've switched to daily backups with 90 days of data. Since I'm not running plex or any media server, I think I'll be fine.... Since the only thing I've been playing with is a laravel project, I can start from scratch. But I guess I'll have to pay more attention so I can catch it early if it happens again.

[Support] GitLab-CE
My GitLab-CE container seems to have "lost" my repository. I'm really not sure what happened or when because I have been on hiatus from using it for a while. I had imported a new project into the repository several months ago, worked on it for a while, went away, did a couple of upgrades to the container, finally took up writing code for the project this past week, and found I couldn't push my changes. Attempts to log in via the web interface didn't work so I just assumed I had forgotten my password. But connecting directly to the docker instance and looking in the database showed I wasn't there at all. I changed the root password so I could log into the web interface, but there are no users, no projects, no nothing. Since this was a new, and not heavily developed project and there is one and only one committer (me), this is not a great loss. I can just effectively start from scratch. But I'd really like to try to figure out where I might have gone wrong so I can avoid it. Were there things I was supposed to do before upgrading the container?

Windows issues with unRAID
@Frank1940, the recommendation from that microsoft.com link works, at least partially. While they claim Windows 10 Home and Professional are unchanged, well, they are. I still can't browse from Windows Explorer, but previously, from the cmd prompt, I was getting this: C:\WINDOWS\system32>dir \\tower\roland The request is not supported. Now I get a directory listing back. And if I type \\tower\roland directly into explorer, I can browse. I'm not sure why the host isn't showing up automatically. I've already tried the tweak to the samba configuration to force unraid to be the local master, but no joy there.
